HIDs and non-luxury brands

So non luxury cars cant have HID?? Kudos to Ford for making it available as an option on that car. Shit, I would love to buy OEM HIDs on a Honda Civic or an Acura RSX, but guess what, I CANT!
When Ford puts HIDS on a focus or Mazda which makes them available on a Mazda 3, it encourages the other car makers to keep up.

But the RDX concept had LED headlights, which probably won't make it to production.

Not everyone wants to go though the hassle of an OEM retrofit. In fact, I have an extra set of integra headlights that I bought for the purpose of doing a retrofit. But I simply have not had the time to buy the projectors and other parts, let alone the fabrication. Plus, a retrofit is never as good as OEM.
When I buy a new car, I would much rather prefer to pay 500-700 for HID as an option than go through the OEM retrofit myself.

And no, the Q45 has Xenons. The Audi A8 W12 model has LED lights, but they're only for day time running lights. LED lights produce narrow beams, so someone has to think of a way to stick them all at different angles to make a viable headlight unit out of them.
They're the clover shaped lights in this pic.

Also I looked up the regulations for Xenons on SUVs. They are not allowed to have Xenons if the center of the lights is sitting 4.5 feet above the ground. So I think those Yukons would not pass that regulation.

The Lexus GX 470 is in the upper 40Ks but it doesn't have Xenons. The 65K LX 470 doesn't either.
I think it was a choice the manufacturers had to live with per the regulations re: Xenons on SUVs. After a certain heigh, they're not allowed.
