Cam lope is so sexy on LSx's

You simply can't mod an S2000 in any way shape or form for it to sound that good, besides maybe a fuggin huge turbo with an ultra loud spool. Absolute thunder....

Listen to an S2000 with a T1R exhaust in a tunnel and then get back to me. 9K rpms + exhaust = F1ish/sportbike howl and a heavenly experience.

As for neuronbob....

Get an S2000, and enjoy a reliable and easy-on-gas sports car (22mpgcity,29-30mpg hwy) while incidentally having the time of your life.

The Corvette gets reasonable mileage for a powerful V8 engine. It gets 26 mpg on the freeway. That's the same as my V6 RL. Test drive planned for later this week or early next week. That will likely determine my final choice.

vishnu, the S2K I drove today was modded. It had a single Magnaflow exhaust.

My GOD, the S2K is beautiful, though. However, I want to get my fill of low-end American torque before deciding. I've been looking all over for S2Ks, even so, today.

Has anyone bought from eBay or from a dealer online and had it shipped? How did you have it inspected first? There are far better deals elsewhere than Cleveland, but I obviously can't test drive them first.

If S2K, yes. If Corvette, I'll go hardtop. Not exactly a roadster. I hear you though!

LOL...most of the top comes off a Vette... so I am down with that... ask Grayson /ATXCLS, I know he had a ZO6 Vette and may have a S2K rite now, plus a Viper... I know Andy / Chopsie has a Red S2K currently... they might have some insight into where to buy your ride and may have a connection or two... even though we are living pretty south of you (I believe)....

Don't know about you but I don't drive around in tunnels all the time Though that would certainly make me want to.

Cammed LSx V8 = idle, revving, even in a tunnel it sounds great

I need to get a sportbike though....

Oh and as far as I know both the C5 and C6 Z06s don't have targa tops. Not to mention the hatchback is much sexier than the C5 FRC

Z06 = no targa... but I like them better than the hatch... they look faster, but not as attractive... IMVHO... but I like the 'verts because of the open air feel...

Personally, I would either take the corvette or the s2k, both are sporty and have plenty of mod's available for them, and once rotex finalizes the supercharger, you will have turbo boost from a charger.

Def the best gas mileage out of everything you've mentioned. Not much mod potential but...its still a newish car. Don't hate me, I think they look better than S2K's. If you can do without the rediculous high redline on the S, give it a look.

Im pretty sure you can get a GT (Great stereo, HID's, leather, 6spd, etc.) with less than 10k miles for under 20k.

Its a great little car thats a blast to drive!

Good luck with what ever you come up with!

I just got back from test driving the above captioned car. It was clean on the outside and inside as the pictures show and the engine was strong. The tires were good with what looks like larger rears than fronts.

The stick shift took a second to get used to especially finding reverse. The clutch was much softer and engaged lower than the Cayman I drive and the shifter was a tod notchy. Once the car was going all was good.

The drive was interesting as it appears that this car has had some suspension work which has lowered the car and made you feel everything on the road. It tracked straight and braked fine.

Funny thing - While on the test drive we were behind a truck with boxes and a Sheriff was behind me. The truck lost a box full of metal pipes and I swerved to miss it which was good but bad for the cop that smashed right into the box. The car was brilliant evading the box as exhaled with relief of the thought of damaging this car.

Awww, you test-drove it for me. That's a pretty good price, and 65k miles is not old for any Honda product. Are you going to buy it?

And as far as the MR2, I'll see if there's one locally to test drive.

Thank you so much for your ideas. There's lots more out there than the S2K and the Corvette to choose from.

there is nothing quite as intoxicating as the grunt of an american V8. The corvette is a pleasure to drive. I know the s2000 is a precision scalpel, but the vette will have you grinning like an idiot everytime you press on the throttle. A convertible corvette is the american dream. Drive it. You will love it.

It's near my job so I took off on my lunch break. I got the Cayman at the moment so I am cool. Now if I could get him to sell it for $14.5k I might have to think about it for a potential flip. Right now I have my heart set on a Red 08 BMW M3 sedan with cloth seats and adjustable suspension....

OK so i just went out to lunch and took the S2000. First time with the top down.... SO MUCH FUN.

But then there was this vette in front of me with exhaust...

I kinda had envy in a way. Although when i drove the C6 i loved it but just felt too big for me.

Grrrrr.....I'm almost ready to blow my wad and get a S2K.

Test drove a 2001 4AT Corvette. No way am I getting a AT. Now I understand what low-end torque means and what I've been missing driving Hondas/Acuras all these years. But the car just felt so big and the handling, while pretty good, was not telepathic like the S2K I drove yesterday. It might have been just the car I drove, though. I need to test drive a MT C5.

I still can't get that S2K test drive out of my mind. I've driven all sorts of cars and there's just nothing else like that. I'm going to keep test-driving, but I'm strongly leaning toward a S2K. In fact, I found one down near Columbus (two-hour drive) with only low miles for a good price from a private seller. I will just have to find the time to go down there to look at it, especially for the price. I'll be looking at a used Z4 at my local BMW dealer over the weekend, as well.

Anyone had success buying a car off of Craigslist?

No but I did sell one on it about a year ago.

no different than cars.com except its a free listing.

I wouldn't be too worried about it being bogus or anything... there could be bogus cars on any site.

The knock against the Solstice and Sky is that they don't respond as a true sports car like an MX-5 or S2000 would respond- dead steering, so-so brakes, so-so shifters and horrible UPS-truck exhaust notes on the big-engine versions per various car reviews, IIRC.

Oh really? I've never driven nor heard much about either so I had no clue what they were like, I just threw them out there as cheap convertibles. Personally I'd never buy one, if I was in that market I'd take a used S2K over either of them any day of the week.

I caught the "fever" about 4 months ago (I am going to be 39 y/o this year...hmmm). I was between the S2K and a 350Z roadster. I too believe that a fun car has to be topless. I felt the 350Z was just too large and bulky feeling. I also like Vettes, but they seem very large and pretty cheap inside.

I found a VERY low mileage (only 68 miles), leftover '06 S2000 from a local Acura dealer with full new car warranty. There are some great deals to be had on late model S2K's.

I would really recommend a '06 or newer though. That was the first year they added VSA. The car comes with quite a learning curve and the VSA is a nice safety net. I consider myself a well-seasoned driver, but the S2000 can really test your skills.

Here's my newish ride (only had the top down twice, but can't wait for spring).

Z4' s are really good looking... being a BMW, it prob has great handling, but I am not sure about the weight... It look heavier than a 2SK...

One of our AZ members said at our last meet that his current car plus at least a couple others had come off Craiglist... I think its pretty legit...

Also, with most things, go with ur 1st mind... if the S2K is your love, then so be it...
