Not here to suggest a hatchback, get whatever works for you but really the comments on owning a car in NYC... smh can half of you people even drive in NYC without hitting a car? Not trying to be an ass but there's bad drivers everywhere. NYC has a lot of traffic/ car volume therefore there will be more incidents doesn't mean that there's more bad drivers here.. However I'll admit that there's a lot of bad Asian drivers among others in NYC and idiots from other states as well as NY that can't keep up in Manhattan which results in accidents.

Hey, watch me buy a ring I can't afford!

Hey, watch me move from one vain city to another!

Hey, watch me buy my next car!

That too.

All I am doing is disputing your ignorant statement of NY having the worst drivers. That's all!

NY against the world thread ensues once again....all stemmed from a car recc? You guys need to really curb this constant loathing. I'm explaining what it takes to park a car here and the cost of ownership with a garage, and you guys are outraged by the street/driving conditions, outraged by the cost, or both.

Just give it up...I'm not asking you to live here, I'm asking about your thoughts on car models.

Maybe if you didn't have such a "Hey everyone, look at me" attitude, we wouldn't bash you for being vain. Humility and modestly are respectable traits.

Sorry, leasing a hatchback is such a look at me decision. Next time I'll consider a scooter to make you feel better

I never said NYC has the worst drivers...but cars constantly parallel parked in the streets of manhattan have some of the most fucked up bumpers I've seen per number...add in what can be harsh winters...Its just not asking for the best situation with a lease imo.

The crown for worst drivers in the world has to go to Italians (no, not NY'ers but real ones in Italy), and in Rome especially: Triple park, on an intersection, and car's can't get by. Yep, sign me up.

I'll never forget the time I took my wife for her first NYC experience. We were in the Bronx at a light and a guy backing out of a tight space bumped into the car behind him and my wife was all frantic over it. I was just like that's how it is here, watch and you'll see it happen over and over. And it did. I've seen horrible drivers all across the US. I'm still convinced Arizona has the worst, but I'd sum NYC drivers up as the most aggressive for sure and Connecticut drivers (stay at home moms in huge SUVs) are the most distracted. I've never been so glad to be in Tennessee where everyone is curious and lets you merge in without trying to stay 2" front the back bumper of the car in front of them like I used to experience on a daily basis in CT/AZ.

Same azine, same pessimistic knowitalls. Dont put to much faith in those links. Ive lived in NYC my entire life. Barely a scratch on any of my bumpers. If you have very little faith in our jacked up roads I understand but (Talking from experience) It is definitely possible to take care of your car here.

In other late breaking news, I just picked up another car....Decided to swap my Smart Brabus for a Smart Electric Drive. Think electric go-kart that can be driven on the streets, and that's the Smart ED. I delivered one to a customer last week and couldn't believe how much better it drove than the standard Smart. No clunky automated manual transmission, no anemic engine, just a single speed driven 74hp electric motor. 50 miles city, 60-70 highway (depending on conditions). It's awesome! And the lease is STUPID cheap. I'm talking under $40/month tax included/$0 down. BUT there is a catch, and that is you have to pay $80/month (+ tax) for an extended warranty on the battery (because it costs more than the car itself). This was the one I delivered the other day. Mine I may pick up tomorrow, and will be Black...But I might make a last second switch to another color, we shall see....

So the factory warranty wont cover the battery for the lease term?

Interesting. But aren't electric only vehicles charged off of outlets that have power because of the coal industry?

But at ~$120 a month as the city run about, that is not a shabby deal. And parking should be easy.

I don't think so. Part of the incentive that is driving the price down so much is applied to the selling price. Still an awesome tradeoff...

I don't think I'd own one of those unless I lived in the city. Like downtown "in the city."

I saw them all over Rome and they absolutely made sense. But on Long Island or in Queens, I dunno.

Plus city ordinances need to be changed to allow perpendicular parking for cars like this ...

Might not make sense for Long Island, but for queens and it's crowded parking, makes absolute sense...Plus I live in Brooklyn, making even more sense.
