Help diagnose this IS300 clicking noise..

I can't figure it out. The sound is coming from the rear. It appears to be left rear. It comes and goes. It's annoying. It's embarrassing. Do you know what it could be?

Sounds like it happens on acceleration. Maybe the axle? Check the axle nut.

Recently, my Honda clicked but in a higher pitch sounds from the front. I was able to fully isolate the sound by jacking the front up and letting the wheels spin without load. Even without any load, there was a clicking sound. I was able to isolate the sound to a bad bearing. I replaced the bearing and no more annoying click click click sound.

Do you hear this sound going straight or only on turns or all the time?

Mostly during acceleration. I was reading somewhere that it could be the axle nut.

It's more pronounced when the car is making a turn. Mostly right turns. It's dependent on speed as the clicking intervals become closer together.

might be a cracked axle or from the spring. My old v6 Accord had a bent rear axle, and that noise was annoying as hell. Had to replace it.

That car and my accord are pretty old just wear and tear. Hope it aint too serious.

check the axle... get the rear up on some stands and run it without load... get another person to safely look and see if the clicks still happen...

I took it to my buddies shop and three of them decided it was the rear diff after putting it in the air. Then one of them decided it was the rear brake pads, which is what I thought it might be. He said it was missing the metal clip that holds them in place. The car was perfect on the way home..probably 15 miles or so. And then it gradually started getting louder and louder which made me decide to run these video clips.

When the car was in the air on the lift, it didn't make the sound.

So if this is the axle, is there anything visually that I could look for?

It probably didn't make the sound cause there was no load on the drivetrain up in the air.

Sounds like a bad CV joint, kinda rare for a CV joint to go up on a RWD vehicle. But look for ripped/torn CV jont boots and grease most probably on the outer joints.

High-speed bumper bolts? Blinker fluid?

It's all ball-bearings these days.

I'm putting my money on the axel nut. My MS6 has a slight click as well under load and that's what the MS3 guys have narrowed it down to.

Since he isn't posting I will. It was the axle. I believe it was fully replaced with a new one and the problem is now gone.

They replaced the drivers side axle. I'm not sure what was wrong with it. Wish i could have looked at it in person to see exactly what was making all the noise.

Thanks for everyone's input. A lot of you guys were right!

Glad it worked out, it sounded like a CV joint (which are part of the axle) in your video. Sometime they go bad even without a torn boot.
