Help!!!

Ok, so my wife and I were driving seperately and we both noticed a loud noise at one particular spot in the road. Thinking we ran over a rock or something we didn't give it much thought. Well, today I happen to notice a dime-sized paint chip and dent on my wife's rear door; clearly a shot from a BB gun. With a bad feeling I check my car and sure enough there are TWO small BB marks on my door and rear quarter-panel! I am so pissed right now. WHoever this was could have hit either me or my wife or even out 7-month old daughter in the back seat!

Anyway, I posted pics of the damage and was just wondering if any of you could give me a ball-park estimate on what this is gonna cost me. The damage to the Lexus is worse as the paint totally chipped off but my car has two seperate hits. Thanks for the help guys!

I guess you can report it to the police and your insurance company. Its better if you can pin point your location so the police can find whoever is doing/ did this. its bullshit tho, ive had my car egged but since i was 17 at the time i got out of my car and chased the assclown down and beat his face in. luckily he was my same age.

About two months ago, I had a kid kick a skateboard out in front of my car one night on a 4 lane highway. Luckily I dodged it but I slowed down, snatched the e-brake and turned around into oncoming traffic and charged at this little fucker. I bet that's the maddest I've been in a long time.

It was actually hilarious when the cops showed up. this kid had been doing it for months and they couldn't catch him in the act.
So when they showed up they asked what was going on so i told them that he had egged my car and i chased him down and beat the shit out of him. The kid the proceeded to tell the cop he wanted to file charges and sue me, to which the cop said, "STFU and grow some balls. you deserved this."

to which i went.

I would never have the balls to even think about doing this.

Erik, like others suggested, go back where this happenned and look for signs who could have done it or where it could have come from. I know nothing about body repairs but that looks like it'll cost a pretty penny.

It'll cost you the deductible for the comprehensive insurance on each vehicle.

The dents should be easy to repair, but I think each car will have to get an entire door/quarter repainted and blended, and the cost will exceed the deductible for each car.

sorry to hear. i would be so pissed. i was driving on the highway late one night and heard a thunk on the hood. When I got home I checked what happened and had a golf ball sized dent on the hood. No paint chip though. Good luck. Paint is beautiful by the way.

Well, just got back from three body shops. They all came in with similar figures. Apparently the entire door and rear quarter panel of my car will have to be repainted/blended with filler used on the dents. Cost: $723.

My wife's car apparently has triple-coat pearlescent paint that has to be done in 3 stages. Both of her doors will need to be painted and blended, again with filler work for the dent. They will also have to remove/replace her clear bra covering over the door edges and door handles. Cost: $667.

So some dumbass POS kid with a BB gun has now cost me $1400 in damages. My deductibles are $500 for each car so thats $1k out of pocket (if I decide to claim it which I am still debating).

If they both occurred at the same spot in the road, I would report it to the police....that's how they find a rash of similar incidents usually committed by the same group. I don't know if it'd expect anything out of it but I think it would be good for the police to have a heads-up.

PDR for small dent.

And if you have the means, touch up paint, wet sand, compound/polish. It won't look 100% perfect, but will definitely be better than it is now. Otherwise, seek out a pro detailer in you area?

I filed a police report yesterday. The officer said she had just filed a similar report from somebody else an hour earlier. He apparently was hit around the same time and place Sunday evening as we were. His car: A 2010 Acura....

On talking to the police. If a driver has his window down and gets hit by one of these, I'd hate to see the outcome. The more info the police have, the better chance they have at getting these tards and locking them up.

It's only a matter of time before these guys get what's coming to them. I doubt the police will get to them, but if these kids hit the wrong guy a BB gun won't do anything to help them

That sucks, sorry to hear about that! When did this happen? As Moog pointed out, a little suprising to see rust on it already.

Sounds like they're targeting nicer cars. I'd be surprised if something like a 1984 F150 is reported as being hit.
