well that dealer is a load of horseshit. They lease great, and sales wise you can gets quads in the 60s-70 range. And many of them are happy to ship.

buts it’s all good. I do miss my mopar sometimes. Not like you got an inferior vehicle.

If they would have come down, man that would have been a very, very hard decision.

Almost bought a Redeye last week, they just couldn't get to where I wanted to be with it. It was fun as hell to drive, but having three kids I may have regretted the 2-door aspect of it after a while too.

The part that would annoy me is the bullshit they tried to hit you with on the old one about corrosion.
That would turn me off to the brand but there aren't many cars competing in this particular market.
I'd be curious to drive one...

That's more the dealer than the brand. I've stopped going to dealers because I knew they were trying to screw me. One of them brought out "my" dirty engine air filter to tell me it needs to be replaced. I proceeded to loudly tell them that wasn't the one from my car as I'd replaced it that morning.

Hory sheet, you can get these in the low 40's with low miles on them now...how much will I hate my life for buying a used QV?

Yeah, and if it was full of corrosion, you'd be able to see it coming up through the spare prongs and underneath the existing fuses/relays.

Just looked into QV leases just out of curiousity and it's still a no go. The residual is SO horrible that the lease cost for one of these is still north of $1k a month even with the steep discounts off the MSRP.

The dealership I went to with the Alfa was also Maserati. They had two guys wiping down the cars in the showroom to keep them spotless. Think it eventually became a game with my kids because they'd go touch it and those guys would come over immediately. Several times!!!

Well, the treatment at the dealership PLUS the actual problem he was having would turn me off to the brand...I guess I should have fully explained.
And lmao...your kids annoyed them and you let them...no wonder they wanted you out of there!

Taking young children car shopping is the best. That price comes down quickly to get you the hell out of there. Just not on that Alfa.

I had both of mine with me at Mercedes when looking at the C.

Salesman was a good sport, gave the girls a couple MB die cast he had on his desk to keep them busy.
They also had a camper-converted Sprinter in the showroom across from his office, so they entertained themselves in there as well.

Just dont get a 2017. And only certain 2018s had CarPlay/Android Auto...otherwise. Go nuts.

Also...italian cars. QV engine is Ferarri derived. So...maintenance could be pricey.

Quick search of the Goog basically comes back with plan on ~$800 year or 10k miles to service the QV with a major service every 30k costing ~$1500. Apparently spark plugs on the QV only last 30k miles.

OP made the right play.

Hate to tell you but the hellcat might need plugs at 30k, too. I know some hemi’s that needed spark plugs at 30k. My Challenger was one of them but I never got that far. Yet my Durango with the same engine was like 100k I think.

they probably make the interval based on how hard they think the owner is gonna drive the car.
soccer mom and sarlacc - 100K interval
big time douches and sarlacc - 30k interval.

My friend was contacting the dealership i traded at about my old car, thinking about buying it. They said it has a new starter and tires on it, Soooo, dropping $1600 on a new power distribution center on it wouldn't have done shit for the problems I had.

Appropriate temp plate.
Just what most cars would do trying to challenge the Kitty.

I've looked into vanity plates before but so flip-floppy on what I would want. W00000 was available and I almost went for it.

Hellcat says 60k miles which isn't absurd. I bet the service cost would be much less even if it was 30k miles. $2k to do belts and plugs plus oil change/filters on a V6 is insanity.

And the price depends on the dealers. Ive read some dealers want $500 for an oil change...even on the 2.0 engines. The dealer I leased from wants $240 for an oil change. Some dealers charge $120....Many people either do as much of the work themselves of find alfa speciality shops or trusted mechanics to do the work for much less.

If we are talking about dodge, the local dealership does an oil change with the correct oil for $75. I looked up the oil and filter pricing and I could get it for $72. Decided to let them do it.

For $3, worth it to just pop in & do the dealer service.

$240 for an oil change on a base model Giulia is insanity. That's what's hurting the brand more than a lot of things. Selling a notoriously unreliable car and then charging out the ass for service is a recipe for disaster.

FWIW, I'd take a Hellcat over a Giulia every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Not even close in my book. These are the golden years of internal combustion engines before affordable electric propulsion dominates the landscape.

The Hellcat will be a classic car for many, many generations.

Alfa.

Even when I changed the challenger to full synthetic I never paid more than $75 for an oil change.

2017's had some issues and a lot of recalls (hell my cherokee had a lot of recalls. 1st year model and all). There are occasional electric glitches in the infotainment, etc...but I had occasional glitches in the X3, too. So, I wouldn't hail the vehicle has "notoriously unreliable"...Alfa did shit the bed when they originally released the QV models and all the magazines' demos had issues. Most people on the Alfa pages have had solid vehicles, with the occasional person having a bad apple...happens with all makes. But its all good...I'll let them have the stigma...It will let me keep getting them at ridiculous discounts for as long as they remain in the states. Still one of the best overall driving/driver's car on the market.

Agreed with the bolded statement. Both the Stelvio and the Giulia are amazing to drive and even better to look at, no doubt. Had a Stelvio as a rental when I was in Germany, those autobahn blasts were a lot of fun.

The Cherokee was also an unreliable POS, I got rid of mine too. Alfa's are notoriously unreliable and have been for decades lol. The fact that they came into the US market and immediately shat the bed is a testament to that...

The Cherokee wasn’t unreliable. It just had a garbage transmission. Everything else about it was great. The 9spd totally ruined it.

And I’d call the Alfa more quirky than unreliable. 8 months in and it’s never had to go to the dealer. There is a software update I need but it’s not dire. As I mentioned, most people on the Alfa boards have been having solid experiences. Just some quirks (and I had quirks with the X3 as previously mentioned).
