Hawk HPS vs. Ceramic

So I noticed just now my pads are pretty low so I want to get decent pads this time around on the G.

I am leaning towards Hawk Pads. Only question is which is better?

HPS vs. Ceramic?

They are pretty much the same price, but I hear that one of the two have bad COLD stopping power. I am trying to avoid that and want a good all around pad for everyday driving and occasional spirited driving. Not taking to the track or anything like that.

Thoughts?

Ok, never mind I found my answer on Amazon. Seems the HPS pads are not too great when cold.

Guess I'll get the ceramics

I had Hawk pads on my 02 Maxima....and they squealed more than a herd of pigs surrounded by a wolf pack.

Were they ceramic?

Everything I read online say the ceramic hawk pads are awesome and silent with no dust.

I am never buying Hawk pads again. Miserable experience. Replaced them after about 10k miles.

I just replaced the Hawk ceramic pads on my Accord last week. No complaints here. Less dust than OEM and great performance.

Had HPS on my Miata...

LOTS of Squealing but excellent track duty mated with Motul600. I'd say if you aren't on a track regularly, they may be overkill.

What about EBC? I'd maybe look into either Redstuff or Greenstuff and pair it with a high temp brake fluid, such as Motul.

You'd be set.

I agree.....Im running redstuffs on the TL. Theyve held up well so far....although the first month I sounded like a fucking bus coming to a stop.

I may run yellows on the Lotus.....they're surely not the best but I havent heard any complaints as of yet.

I have Hawk ceramics on the front of the tsx. Compared to the crappy stock pads, they last 2-3x longer, although the Hawk pads are a little louder when it is cold and wet compared to stock. I am very impressed with it.

I had used HPS on my '05 TL and it had done the job well. I may have to try the EBC to see how they compare to the HPS once my TL-S' pads need replacing.

Racing Brake makes pads for your car. I am using the ET500 pads on my TL and love them in comparison to the EBC Greenstuff that I was running before.

Hawk HPS are awesome....the HP Plus are the ones which i have heard horror stories about !!!

I have had Hawk HPS for more than 80K miles and they were and have been awesome....the very 1st brake in the morning they squeal a tad bit and then the squeal goes away....but the down side is, they dust like a MOFO !!!

either way, recently Inaccurate convinced me to try the RB ET500...i have those installed in the rear and waiting for the front HPS to die out so I can swap them LOL

I had Hawk HPS pads on my TSX and although they performed beautifully, the brake dust and squealing was not worth it. Since I commuted 120 miles a day (and still do), I never had clean wheels.

^^^ hahaha....i feel you mang....i got a car wash at a nearby wand wash and just by the time i get home, i have to clean the wheels again....

but i never had any squealing other than the 1st brake in the morning....either way they stopped and still do on a DIME which i LOVE !!! and the best thing is they dont "eat" up the rotors and hence my rotors have been strong even after 90K miles....

Probably. As I stated above and elsewhere on AZ, Hawk pads were the biggest piece of shit pads I've ever put on any car I've ever owned.

Akebono makes some great pads; I've put a set on my 7-series and have found them be an OEM supplier for some car companies. They are super quiet and dust free (unlike the OEM ones).

I've also heard good things about the Racing Brake ET300 pads; long life, nice and quiet, etc.

BUT ALSO, being a TL owner I've seen that MANY people have had no complaints with the CMAX Ultra Gold (or something like that) pads for the 6MT/TL-S's with the brembo brakes. They last quite a while and have free replacements for life. Also they are quiet and don't dust!
