Title states the question. 0-60 or quarter mile. Im assuming the TL is 0-60 in 5.8. Thats a safe average among publications and peoples opinions here. Not sure if anyone has actually gotten out the G-tech or not? I'm assuming this has probably has to be most peoples fastest car to date. One stipulation, no muscle carrs from the 70's with a million horsepower count

No, but neither did you!

An average? Some numbers are less than 5.8? I consider Road and Track's figure of 6.3 to be about right for 0-60. It's a sweet engine, no doubt, but this is a two-ton car, folks!

Uhhh ... the car mags I take all put the TL at about 6.2 sec. 0-60. Don't believe those 5.8 figures on a car of this weight and hp ... that's getting into serious V-8 territory.

Done a few runs with a G-tech also and can consistently get 5.0-5.1's all day.

My first Acura is a little faster than my new TL!! This was shot two weeks ago at Portland Int. Raceway exiting turn 11.

I see from an early post on this thread that 92 NSX and I have the same year and colour...good taste Racing the NSX is about a much fun as you can have with your cloths on. HEY,...the TL is great too. Another fine Acura product

Funy to say but ... ME TOO... I went from the 2001 CLK55 to this. Although the TL is slow as a dog compared to the AMG, it's still a nice compromise. About 50% the cost for about 70% the performance + 4-doors, Bluetooth, XMradio, etc. Don't worry, you'll LOVE the TL. I "almost" don't even miss the AMG any more.

I've owned several faster (including my current Corvette).

A list of them (as best as I remember):

1982 RX7 with aftermarket turbo
1994 Corvette
1995 Z28
1997 Z28
1998 Volvo C70 Coupe
2001 Corvette
2003 Corvette
2003 G35 (yes, it definitely felt faster)

I had my 2002 Camaro SS for about 2 years. Sold it for the comfort and refinement of the TL. Haven't really regreted it one bit, but I do miss the V8 growl, I can't lie.

I had a 1993 GMC Typhoon. For those that don't know, it was a 2 door GMC Jimmy, limited run of 2000 vehicles each in 2002 and 2003 with a 4.3 liter intercooled turbo V6, 280 HP stock with full time 4 wheel drive. This was the same engine used in the earlier GMC Syclone pickups.

It was a little weak at high speed but I never lost a race from the line or roll.

Probably the second worst thing I ever did was sell it.

1998 Trans Am WS6, Black/Black, 6MT, T-Tops.

1998 was the first year of the LS1 being put in F-bodies. Mine was #189 with the WS6 package. If you remember the commercials with the black WS6 at the stop lights and literally eating some red sports car (porsche maybe) for dinner, that is what I had. 0-60 in 5.5 secs, 13.2 1/4 mile, bone stock.

70's American supercars were not as quick as those from the 60's because of the smog laws and corporate power-downs of the engines. So my 1966 L34 SS 396/360 Chevelle is at the top of the heap for me followed by my 1988 Mustang LX 302 CID (that's a 5.0 for you liter-lovers), and then my 2002 Altima SE.

Incidently, the best published times I've seen to date for this car was in an issue of Car and Driver. They managed a 0-60 run in 5.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds at 99 MPH.

98 Carrera S and a 97 BMW M3 were quicker/faster.
The TL is quicker than the 85 IROC Z-28 I had ages ago. And you don't have to have a mullet to drive the TL.

1998 Z28 13.3@104 (Stock except for the K&N air filter)
2002 Camaro SS 12.9@106

Both automatics, both very quick.

The SS would break the tires loose anywhere under 40mph and both cars always had a healthy chirp shifting from 1st to 2nd.

I thought that the 6M TL and G35 was a tight race, that it would come down to the drivers to determine the winner. Anybody?

I just saw a used one for sale here at Bridgewater Acura; I'd like to try it out but that rear end is truly butt ugly (pardon the pun). Did you ever run yours at the track?

Nuh... silly... only a few will be surprised... others are not frogs in a well... Don't make your club stinky...

What's your best car before your prestigious Lex?

But, right, not too many ppl have more-HPs vehicles in their yards before this 04TL...

Nothing. GS 400 was the fastest modded out. Nothing like a Vette or something of that nature. I thought my old SC 400 was fast until the GS....Other cars not close to the speed of those 2.
Everything being relative, whatever is next has to be faster than the old GS.....

This day and age, G35s, TLs, 330s, WRXs, EVOs, 3.5 Nissans, there are just TONS of reasonably priced, very quick cars and SUVs. 10 years ago being under 10 seconds was an accomplishment. Nowadays it seems under 7 seconds is saying something...

Add a 20k SRT-4 and why buy a Mustang GT?

To 1SICKLEX;

I agree. Today's crop of performance offerings is really good.. including the Mustang. There is a lot from which to chose for us gearheads once again. It started to rev back up in the mid-80's with Ford's introduction of the revised (engine wise) Mustang (1985). And it's gotten better every year.

5.4-5.7 0-60 G35 6MT, TL 5.8-6.2 6mt

1/4 times are pretty much equal, but to what I see so far, it seems the TL isn't performing like the tests show when people take it to the track.

I for one have not owned a stock car that was faster than my 5AT TL, with the possible exception of my 1990 SHO, but we'll never know because the SHO never saw a drag strip and neither will my TL.
