If so, the following is pretty interesting.
Jay Leno relives a part of his childhood, a 1966 Fullsize Ford Galaxie 7 litre.
A few ads in the beginning, but I thought it was actually quite good.

Truthfully, I'm not really a fan of Leno, but I thought this video was particularly well done. I love the story of he and his father ordering a car together, and he being allowed to choose the engine. And as much as the old man bitched and moaned when he picked it up, how Jay finding a speeding ticket weeks later a nice touch.

Jay reminded me of cars I used to see musclecars back in the day with no hoods on them. I always wondered about that.
I hope that one day I can have goo gobs of money to modernize a memorable car from my youth.

I think what I like in addition to Leno's story why he wanted a 7 litre is relating how a restoration often takes a few attempts before it's really completed. I've been down that route a number of times where everything is re-assembled absolutely perfectly, every nut and bolt removed and every component lovingly rebuilt, only to have the car not being at the point where you expected it to be. A door gap a tiny bit off. A piece of trim not quite aligned. Or mechanical things such as a slightly odd feeling from the steering or a stumble from a carburetor. Then there's no choice but to spend a few more weeks or even months taking the offending part off and redoing it. Regardless of how frustrating this is however, it's absolutely worth it to be able to turn and look back at a car one night before you turn out the garage light and knowing everything is absolutely and wonderfully perfect.

I'm kinda bummed he resto modded it. I was hoping for a ground up restoration to stock condition. It's a rare car you don't see very often, only 8K something made, hardtops anyway. About the only mod I may do to mine is some mufflers. She's pretty quiet with the stock duals.

Think so? I guess I've always been the exact opposite of people trying to have an aggressive sound for their cars. A company is currently making me a couple mufflers that are exact duplicates of the factory originals of a car I'm restoring, as everything currently available seems to have an overly aggressive sound. I like my cars to sound muted and quiet. Until you stand by the engine. I love the engine to have a healthy sound. A sound that doesn't need a loud exhaust to flaunt that it's gone the distance and can do so again. You just know.
Nice Galaxie BTW. Very sharp.
