Guess what I'm replacing my TSX with?
A Cadillac! Well, maybe.
My '04 TSX lease is up in a few months. I drive my M Coupe pretty much everyday, but I still need a sedan for wife trips, golf trips, hauling buddies, etc. I want a comfortable, luxurious highway cruiser with lots of features for <$50K. I spent last week driving most of the cars we've all considered at some point...here's my abbreviated thoughts:
335i:too small in back, interior not great. Engine is sublime, but saddling it with an automatic is sacrilege. I've got a sportier BMW...moving on.
TL-S:too much power for the front wheels. Too much like my TSX...moving on.
G35:uninspiring styling, too many at the grocery store. Didn't like the seats. Nice engine, though.
CTS:looks awesome (better in person), exquisite interior, feature-laden. Not blazing fast due to heft, but should do 60 in 6 seconds or so. Downright vast in the backseat compared to the others. Extremely quiet at speed. Me likey.
As a lifelong domestic HATER, I'm at a loss. A Cadillac! My grandpa would be so proud..he loved them

Yeah, I think a lot of import-only guys like myself will overlook this car and not even give it a chance. I think that would be a mistake. It really is a great alternative to other import sedans. Geez, I sound like I work for GM and I don't even own the car
And yes, the direct injection engine has 304HP.
My BMW dealer did not have a 535i in stock, and that is the other sedan I'd really like to try out. It is much more comparable in size to the CTS, but it is also substantially more expensive when optioned accordingly. It would have to really dazzle to sway me away from the CTS.

I couldn't believe what I just read considering i've never been impressed by the previous generation CTS interior but after looking at some pictures on cadillac's web site i'm damn impressed. The thing has a stitched leather dash board!
Might consider trading the RL on this...whatdya think sellout, RL or CTS?

<----- GM HATER
but I will admit the CTS does look nice and sounds like it'd be a good car. Resale might hurt ya though.
What about these:
Acura RL
Audi A6
BMW 5 Series - even though you have the M coupe
Infinity M35 or M45
Lexus GS or ES
Volvo S60 or S80
dare I also include the MB C350

the RL nice but styling kind of bland looking.
A6 i'm not much of an audi fan
5 series to me kind of pricey
m35 again kind of bland looking
Lexus GS/ES and S60/s80(unless you get a used S60 R) their bland
of the bunch i like the new C350 BENZ

RL: boring, boring, and more boring. Needs a replacement. Zero interest.
A6: Audi's reliability frightens me. No to mention too expensive.
5 series: Haven't driven the 535i, but it's on my list. Pricey with options, though.
M35/45: nice cars, but so ugly.
GS: hadn't considered it. I'll look at it.
ES: no thanks.
Volvo: no interest in either of these but, to be fair, I've never driven a Volvo.
My mo-in-law picked up a C350 last week. Not what I'd expect from MB....in a bad way.

Fwiw, I've driven the GS several times & own two ISs - I would've picked up the GS without hesitation, but my wife & I just don't need more space & the extra options that come on the GS over the IS right now. Our ISs are nice & speedy, have drawn more compliments than all the other cars I've driven in my life combined (seriously), have a suspension that drives like a stick of butter, has a higher quality interior than most or all of its competitors, and is a lot of fun to drive when I feel so inclined.

During an MB C-class event, our little caravan took us past a Caddy dealership that had the new CTS sitting out front and left me clueless as to why anyone would get a C-class over the new CTS. To date the 2G CTS has to be Caddy's HOTTEST looking car.
The CTS is at the top of my list (by a narrow margin over the G35) as the replacement for my Accord in 2 1/2 years. NOTE: Both might get bumped down if Acura makes the 4G TL what is should be.

RL comment aside, doesn't resale value dictate the residual value on a lease which then helps determine the lease rate?

The new CTS is hot but its rather expensive, I don't know if I would ever drop 40k with all the features on a caddy, when I could have a new C klasse/ new 2009 A4. But thats just me

And yes, value retention does factor into lease numbers.

Buddy of mine just got the New CTS in that Wine-Red color. OMG that thing is amazing. It get's looks wherever we go. People stare as if it was a sports car. He already has some wheels on it and an exhaust system that gives the car a G35 ish sound to it. Has the 300 horse motor and it moves good enough. Fit and finish are excellent.

if that's true that will be like a 4 door Z06 Vette.
yes the vette has less power than the projected CTS-V HOWEVER the CTS-V will weigh more. so if you lined up a new Z06 and a new CTS-V its early to say but if those numbers are true and they stick a 6 speed in that CTS-V it will be even up race.
