It would be easier and probably cheaper just to get an SRT-10 Ram.

well he can start off with these parts he'll need to use the engine:

Viper GTSR spares for sale: 3 sets BBS rims: New Retail Price: $5,000 per set, yours for $2,000 per set. T56 Gearbox: new price from Oreca: $24,000; yours for $8,000 US Dollars, newly refreshed. Dana 60 Differential: New from Oreca: $10,500; yours for $6,000 US Dollars, newly refreshed. Others spares also available, contact Eric Burch/Team Manager - mobile #407-760-1213
he will need the gearbox and differential for starters. a steal at $14,000 for both - that's $20,500 off their price new. slap the engine on, and it's all good.

more race Vipers for sale here:

I know that Dodge sells racing motors. But that orginal designed motor belongs to Team Oreca in France. The new GTS-R motor may not even fit into the pickup. And yes, I don't think it'll be streel legal, and boy what a waste of good motor in a crappy shell.

Let's break this down for your dumb spoiled friend...

1 × Viper GTS-R Race motor (est. cost $30,000)
1 × Custom high strength drive shaft (est. cost $2000)
1 × T56 gear box (est. cost $8000)
1 × Custom mandrel bent exhaust (est. cost $1000)
1 × Set of headers (est. cost $1000)
1 × Custom engine mounts (est. cost $1000)
1 × Custom rear differential (est. cost $6000)
1 × Set of custom rear axles (est. cost $5000)

Estimated number of hours needed to perform conversion: 300 man hours

Additional adjustment needed to be made to the truck:
Strengthen mounting points for suspension points
Cut away firewall
Strengthen chassis

All told, even if he does the labor himself, it'll cost close to the price of buying a Ram SRT-10. 300 hours of labor at $50/hour comes to another $15,000.

There is no way he could pull this off unless someone ridiculously wealthy is picking up the tab and it doesn't sound like his parents would be willing to do that.

Why isn't a "normal" Viper motor enough?

That'd be a lot easier to do if he was really trying to do the swap. At least the parts exist.
