I have owned 2 camaro SS's and an 03 Viper and have done a lot of street racing. The camaro's I have owned both had the LS1 engine, one of the 2 had MTI 2nd stage heads, and many more mods. That second clip of the T/A waxing the GTO's Ass, The T/A was squeezing(Nitrous) on him. The T/A has an LS1 and the GTO's had the LS1 and are now getting the 6.0 instead. The GTO with the LS1 is about 2-3 tenths of a second slower in the 0-60mph than the T/A with the same motor. SO the GTO with the stronger 6.0 may be a bit quicker. But the way the T/A smoked the GTO in the 2nd clip, one of two things happened. THe GTO driver missed 2nd gear and then had to play catch up or the T/A squeezed the bottle on him. I raced an SS with my Viper that had engine work as well as a dry 125 shot of nitrous and got my ass handed to me. Juice will do that, as I am sure you guys know.

I have a Trans am and my neighbor has a 5.7 LS1 Gto. We both have exhaust and intake, other than that, we are stock. I raced him off the line and from a roll and get him all the time. I beat him by about 2 or 3 car lengths depending on the launch and stay there the whole way. If he gets the jump, i beat him by a car or less. Now his friend from NJ has an LS2 GTO and he takes me by 3 to 5 car lengths all the time. The way that Trans am was pulling was either Nitrous or bolt ons. I have seen a header, ls6 intake, Throttle Body, Exhaust Camaro take a newr GTO by quite a few car lenghts. I have even seen a trans am with exhaust and high stall verter kill an LS2 Gto at the track.

Only 1 pontiac dealer let me test drive one, and thats only because the owner had one of his own and let me drive it. It was an LS1 though. Also as for the weight of the 2 cars, the GTO may be heavy, but so is the Trans Am.
