GT-R or Carbon packaged C6 Z06

Either would be a 2011...which one would you choose...for a daily driver in the NE sans snow...

Wow, I'm surprised at the amount of people saying take the Z06. I thought there would be a lot more support for the GT-R.

Well if you're looking for the daily driver argument, the GTR is all-wheel-drive and has four seats.

And if magazine test numbers are anything to go by, physics is the GT-R's bitch. sounds like a pretty easy decision to me.

Answering your original question: Neither. These cars are not meant to be daily drivers, especially in NE.

You'd be surprised how many people DD C5+ vettes. I would never do it, but some people do. I would think that the shitty NE roads (pot holes from hell) would take a toll on a car like that in a hurry (especially if you were piling miles on it on a daily basis).

The GT-R is without reasonable doubt the better daily driver, more comfortable and easier to drive on a daily basis. However I would choose the Z06. I miss my C6 Z06 and there was an unexplainable joy I had hearing its V8 sing its praises while rowing through the gears on my favorite back road...or kicking the tail out on a rainy day.

All this to say, drive both and see what appeals to you most and go with that, in this price range, emotions play a big role. Let us know what you decide.

I have a very close friend who has both....he will say the exact opposite of you (also have two friends with GT-R's that are selling, one is buying a Z06, other a 911). They all say it is not a great daily driver, and is not comfortable.

My buddy with both drives the vette 5-6 days a week, says it's just much more comfortable.

It's quite possible if it's Godzilla we're talking about. I've logged over 7k miles on my C6Z whereas I only test drove the GT-R a few miles and have no long term knowledge on a daily basis drivability.

Maybe achenator will be able to give more insight on the matter, he's a ow owned his for a little time now.

The Vette with Z51 is kinda stiff and I heard the Z06 is really hard but the Carbon comes with MRC so that should be smoother.

I think Nissan also changed the suspension on the 2012 GT-R to make it more comfortable. So you should test drive both and post pics

Sooner or later you are going to need a back seat in a DD. Plus, the GT-R is faster...

Would it be plausible to wait the extra year for the C7? That's due to come out in 2012, isn't it?

They weren't, but the GT-R can do the job as long as you can foot the bill on service needs. I know Kenny Tran (Jotech) likes to DD his to work near every day.

truth be told, you can drive any car in the winter if you want, as long as a) you know what you are doing and b) you have the tires for it.

There is a guy that drives his Vette year round around here. He has a C6 with snow tires and gets around better than most.

oh yea and another reason to go with the vette... LC shouldn't be a marketed feature on my car if it voids my warranty...

If I had to choose between those 2 I would go with the GTR because I personally have always loved the Skyline. That said I also think that both cars are impractical for the NE as a DD.

Do you not think you might tire of the Z06 quickly?

I mean yeah, it's got 505 horsepower and that doesn't get boring, but you've already had that same generation Corvette before. If anything, get the GT-R for a change of pace.

Save up a little more and get an R8.

Otherwise, of the two I'd go Z06...

you'd have to save up more than "a little more" to get a 2011 R8... like, about 2.5x more.
