The GT-r will be faster b/c of the awd and auto tranny. But the GT500 is beyond sexy and bad assed. There is a mystique with the Shelby.

edit: i read the title wrong lol I thought it said GTR or GT500 lol....
no keep the GTR or look into another car.
Coming from a car that can hold grip like crazy the gt500 may not be your thing. You may enjoy the ZL1 more.
Are they selling the RS5 here? M3? C63amg?

Think that's a negative on the RS5 and I already had a M3 sedan. Just thought it would be fun to try a tail happy big ass V8 for a while.

Shelby GT40 yes! If you want your best bang for HP a GT500 is hard to beat, but 2010's are selling used for in the upper $30's. They're a Mustang that to me isn't going to hold its value that well in my opinion.

I think the GT500 would be a hell of a lot more fun on the street a.k.a. laying rubber from stop light to stop light, but on a track it would be a different story.

Don't seem to be any GT500's in my area at all. It may be a few months before I can find one close to sticker. That may sway my decision for a while.

Even a 2011 GT500 was as fast around VIR as a V10 R8. The 2013 GT500 is even more nuts... 550bhp [2011] vs 650bhp [2013]
Personally I would never choose a GT-R simply because it looks ugly to me looks are subjective, but hell I'd rather have your previous M3 than a GT-R.

I wouldn't do it but I'd hope it to be a cashout trade up.

I would do it just for the change. Can't see myself keeping a car for more than a year.
Ur not interested in any other cars?
Also I'm guessing ur gonna buy the gt500 new? I'd recommend buying them used. U wont lose much much money when switching cars

Not to mention if you can get out for around what you paid... that a huge win in my book. I'm not a fan of the GT-R. Looks are OK, but you can't do anything in that vehicle yourself. Seriously, I think if you fart on the seat you have to bring it to the dealer to have the ECU recalibrated.
If it was me, I'd be in an R8... but out of the two you listed, I'd go GT500...

I'd do it.

Even more reason to keep it. The depreciation rate on a 2 year old GTR is going to be far better than that of a brand new GT500. Youd be losing money faster, and while driving slower
