Government Motors
Government Motors
Am I the only one offended by that Buick TV commercial that has the twit on the plane starting his Buick battle wagon with his phone? It then sits there and runs for what, like at least a half an hour? Way to save gas.... The ironic (and sad) thing is that it's a product of Government Motors, the company that we now own a huge piece of, thanks to that other twit in the white house. Yeah, that one, the one that would have us driving electric cars or cars that get a gazillion miles per gallon. You can't make this crap up....

I doubt they actually left the car running for half an hour.
It's just a commercial showcasing one feature of the car, and a pretty cool feature IMO. Nothing more, nothing less.

People do the same thing with their after market remote starters, nothing new here. I am actually glad that more and more manufacturers are offering it as a standard feature rather than customers shelling out close to $400~500 to get the after market iterations of these remote starters installed.
OP, don't get your panties in a bunch. It's programmed to shut off after about 10 minutes or so. That's actually 5 minutes shorter than the average aftermarket remote start setup.
The OnStar app was pretty cool, I could lock/unlock, remote start on/off and set off the panic alarm being anywhere in the world. Thats probably the number one thing I miss about not having my SRX anymore.

Yeah-- you might want to try the Cadillac or BMW forums for the 47%.
As mentioned in the first reply, Acurazine's Religion & Politics subforum permits you to vent against socialists, communists and illegal aliens over at: acurazine.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18.
You need to get the idea of ooooh fancy technology, waste money and all that crap out of your head... The fact is that GM is a business and it is driven by providing features to people that enrich their lives. Fuel consumption is a result of "YOUR" indulgence. If you don't want to use the feature don't. There are a lot of people out there that will enjoy that kind of convenience. Humanity is trying to move forward not backwards.
The wife and I saw * commercial for the first time last night. Both of us think it's a pretty neat feature, particularly as the distance between long term parking and the tarmac probably exceeds the operational range of most other remote starters.
I believe there is no limit on the range as long as your phone has Internet access.
Now that I have a Cadi product compatable with the OnStar app, I can't use remote start. Damned 6MT! Damned Gubment Moturs!

So why would anyone be offended by this kind of feature?
OP FTL.

Correct. As long as the car can receive the signal, you can control it with the app. Only exception is if it's parked underground or somewhere that the car has too much interference around it to receive the signal.
0:21 the windows are completely cleared before they even get off the shuttle. Did the defroster somehow clear all of the windows???
0:23 the driver is getting into the car and the snow is still on it.
0:27 the car doesn't have any snow on it???
Look how serious I took it. There must be some other features to the Enclave other than the remote start app...
Oh, and he used his phone while the plane is on final approach. Totally against FAA regulations...
Some weird posts the last few weeks. Chalk it up to holiday hangovers I guess
Definitely not offended. It's a cool feature and based on the 10 minute auto-off... I can guarantee it was not on for 30+ minutes. Plus, it's a TV commercial... not real life.
As someone mentioned... I wish I had the luxury of being able to worry about non-sense...

And i thought the new Durango with a chipper/shredder would be good for us righties that tote guns and drink whiskey while reading the bible...Only in 'Murica.
On a serious note, I think it's a cool feature, especially if the car got stolen you could shut it off?
