gotta love LA...

Cliff Notes: walked into a commercial shoot for Audi R8 in downtown LA. Had my camera.

I just can't stay away. Just kidding, I'm here for work, again. Anyway, so I get in Saturday night, chill a little, see Infected Mushroom @ Avalon, . Sunday I am chilling out watching movies in the hotel, but I had to eventually go out to get some things because I didn't bring much because I wanted to avoid trouble @ the airport. So after watching Bad Boys, Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, and Charlie's Angels, I finally get unlazy and go downstairs.

Now you know there's pretty much always some movie or commercial or series shooting like, possibly anywhere. So I made sure to take my camera. Wasn't expecting much but I get down and notice right in front of my hotel (and right in front of my work as well) there is a shoot setup. I'm like oh damn. I see everything setup on the street but I see no action. I wait a couple of minutes, when I start to hear this beautiful sound coming up the hill.

A silver Audi R8 blows by!!! I was like .

This is one of the baddest looking cars I've ever seen. I would take this over a 997 Turbo, DB9, I will even venture to say I would take it over a F430. It has an appeal you rarely see in any car. My jaw just dropped when I saw it, serious. And the black band on the side that repulses so many in the pictures? It looks spectacular in person and totally goes with the car.

I'm not sure I like the black bland, but then again.... I guess I would have to see it in person. And I'm telling you.... look up John now that you're in LA!

that car was used in Batman Begins...among many other commercials and movies
and yet it keep total balance and the merc can get over 100 easy while using it

Am I the only one that thinks it looks like ass? What's so special about it, other than the engine? Looks very bland..Like they didn't think too much in making this design...

It looks menacing.. evil... few cars have such a presence. And at the same time, its beautiful. I agree there are certain angles where it looks kinda objectionable. But as a whole, it's stunning.

I would definitely have to see it in person, but as of right now, I think the "black band" sucks

The rest of it is pretty damn though

I didn't catch him when he was coming up the hill, it happened too fast for me to get my camera out and ready. He did it twice but I didn't get him the 2nd time either, mainly because I wasn't quite sure it was OK for me to be taking pics there in the first place. I guess it was fine since nobody said anything or even looked at me, but I didn't wanna draw any attention to myself.

Either this comp isn't displaying the pics in the right proportion, or that car is majorly out of proportion. The hood seems way to short and stubby given the overall length of the car. The wheels look too small.

That has to be one of the ugliest "supercars" I've seen in a while. I'll have to look at these pics on another comp to verify that, but if they hold true then

EDIT: Awesome jon snapping the pics though

the basic proportions of this car are nothing new. pay special attention to the roofline and windshield.

right, but compared to that F1 you posted there, the nose it too stubby, and the space between the top of the front wheel and the hoodline is way to big. Same goes for the rear wheel to the engine cover distance but its not as great.

I think the too short a nose bothers me the most. Maybe it'll look better in person. I sure hope so. A lambo based supercar with audi-esque prices seemed like a recipe for success and had me interested...especially the convertible R8 thats in the works.

yeah but you said that as a whole, the car was "majorly out of proportion". lets go, vishnus.
