Lol, you guys aren't going to believe this ... but

A bunch of cougars started .............................. JK JK

But, major shit happened tonight .

I was at a stop light .. went into 1st .. and when I tried shifting to 2nd the shifter literally disconnected itself from the tranny leaving it stuck in gear and me stranded at the side of the road. I called AAA and got it towed to my house .. so here comes a car I bought on Thursday night already being towed ... great. The shifter does not go into any gear, I had to hold in the clutch while my car was being pulled on the bed of the tow truck.

I am going to call Hoehn Honda tomorrow and I think they'll take care of me, considering I've only had the car just about 300 miles.

Updates to follow.

Wow, that's terrible... I was gonna say not going into 2nd sounds different than most of the other issues with the 6mt (3rd gear being the dysfunctional child), and the Synchromesh helped mine a lot...

Obviously, there are bigger issues afoot. Might as well also try to find out if the 3rd gear TSB was performed while they have it back in - and might have to work on it for you.

Oh man... sorry to hear about that. I've never heard of that happening before on a 6mt. I've heard of the clutch master cylinder going, but in that case the clutch pedal goes to the floor and never comes back up, not what happened to you.

The dealership should have some kind of warranty, don't know what it is in Cali, but I'd imagine it would be at least 30 days from the day of purchase. Hope they take care of you and get it straightened out.

this happened to me. in some rare cases, the shifter bushing on the tranny is tightened to hard and the metal ring around it pops off. this ring connects to the tranny cable.

if u cannot move the shifter then its a good thing because that means your cable isnt broken.

if the shifter only moves back and forth then it popped off
and if it moves all willy nilly u got a broken cable.

its a simple fix and its not gunn abe a big deal at all

I think this is it. I installed my aluminum bushings on my ms3 and the instruction manual said do not ever overtighten them..

anyway, good luck with it man. im sure you will be alright after this.

Car is getting towed to Hoehn Honda today and hopefully she'll be back in commission by Tuesday.

I know it really isn't a big deal, just a major inconvenience. I have 3 finals to take this week while commuting 70 miles a day ...

Thanks guys for the support!

Bummer....hope things work out for you. Hope you can pick up some cougars when you get it back too.

Did you purchase a warranty with the car? Regardless, usually extended warranty's wont cover a repair within 3 months or 3K miles from purchase as they classify it as a "pre-existing condtion." Once again, good luck.

The car has a 3000mi / 30 day warranty I believe .. but regardless.

300 miles of ownership is no excuse for a shifter cable to break :P.

I'd rather just get it fixed by Honda .. I don't want to work on cars anymore today .. I already installed coilovers for a fellow AZine member.

Nice ride, sux that your having issues with it, but at the same time this is the BEST time to have issues since it will be covered!

What price range did you pick it up for?

The car listed at $14,995, I traded in my truck and put down $1000 as a down payment.

Car was $12,100 in all after taxes / license fees.

This is the first car I've ever financed on my own so my interest rates are pretty high. I plan on getting it refinanced asap.

Also, update on the car:

I had it towed this morning to Honda of Escondido and they're going to take a look at it.

I think I should have the car back by this afternoon .. hopefully they'll reimburse me for towing.

Just a small update gentlemen,

Modding bug has hit me ... and it hit me hard.

Mods coming:

- COR Sport aluminum shifter bushings
- RV6 V1 J-Pipe

Future Mods:

- Catback (Probably in the next couple weeks, all depends on Sonnick)

Mods Currently Installed:

- K&N Typhoon CAI
- 3G 5AT TL RSB

I'll take some video of this car's 3rd gear pulls after the J-Pipe / shifter bushings are installed.

Stay tuned!

Thanks man!

Hoehn Honda took care of me, paid for all the towing and repairs.

I replaced my stock bushings with some COR sport and man, what a difference. Shifts feel fantastic.
