Thumbs down goodbye XM

Well the time has come to kick XM(/Sirius) to the curb. Since I first got my car at the end of 04, XM has gone from 29.99 quarterly to 44.97 quarterly; nearly a 50% increase.

The service certainly hasn't gotten 50% better and I don't even listen to it much anymore. Since Sirius took over its actually gone downhill. When I do listen to it, its only a couple of channels and that's certainly not worth $45 every three months Absolutely ridiculous. :thumbsdow

Anyone else think this price is outrageous?

Still worth it for me. I cant stand FM radio and i get sick of my MP3s quickly.

I don't know why but I've never been a fan of these satelite radio.

I have 2 radios and pay a total of $7 per month. I went to cancel the service and the completely slashed their price. I think right now they need as many subscriptions as possible regardless of how much people are paying.

terestrial radio is painful to listen too.

I had two radios and paid $23.XX a month. Now that Xm increased their rates, I got rid of the primary radio. I kind of miss XM, but am not going to pay the exhorbitant rates. No fucking way.

Pandora and some sort of aux in.

Unfortunately I dont beleive its cd quality. puts a little bummer on it when you want to turn it up.

There is like a 1000+ page thread for cheap XM/Sirius. I have never and will never pay full price, not worth it at all.

Smartphone w/unlimited data and Pandora and other apps are just waiting in the wings.

Plus the new music just gets worse, despite my initial belief that wouldn't be possible. I thought we'd hit the bottom with Soldier Boy but nope.

I love the Decades...especially 80s on 8. 90s on 9 takes me back, too.

Hey guys,

Quick question if you're on the free 90 day trial. Is it true you're supposed to call them and cancel yourself if you want to go that route? Or do they send you some kind of notice?

I'm still debating, but the only thing I'm listening to are the comedy stations.

i got the $77/year deal for the last 3 years. a few days ago i called them up threatening to cancel again, because i wouldn't care that much if i didn't have it, and they actually offered me the $77/year deal this time with no haggling. they ended up renewing me for $3.99/month or $19.95 for the next 5 months.

It may not be CD quality, but it sounds very good for what it is. I've had no problem turning up the volume!

Best part is that mine is a work Blackberry with unlimited data which means free phone and data all day

same here. i've been doing the $77/year deal since xm expired the first time in 06.

last year, i actually was gonna cancel because i didn't feel like haggling, but they just offered it right away. so i renewed it.

reminds me, it expires in a few weeks. i'll need to call and see if i can get it again.

XM is definitely worth paying for IMO...I can't stand terrestrial radio!

The last few years, I have paid $77/yr.

Just this past June, I threatened to cancel, gave them the "times are tough" routine, and I got 5 months for $20

I got turned off when they refused to give me even a couple days trial.

iPhone+iSimple=pure win. Be it my own music, or stuff I grab online.

Its funny, the TL has it built in and I never even thought to use it lol. I have entirely too much music to pay for their stuff....

I had Pandora on my Iphone connected through the aux in my 335i. Sounds quality was OK but no where near how Sirius sounds in the M3.

Same here. Don't really like terrestrial radio, either...well, our stations. Other cities have a good station or two, but not Charlotte.

In terms of format Pandora > XM or Sirius. If only there was a more reliable way to stream it in car, as 3G isn't around everywhere.
