All the talk about bad trannies was really bothering me, and I needed 4WD for the winter, so I went shopping today. MDX is nice, but too big for my liking. Went to look at FX 35, and ended up buying a new G 35X. I can`t believe the control and traction! It`s not anywhere near as refined as the new TL, especially the dash (ugly orange crap!), but it`s a torque monster! It also comes with the Bridgestone EL42`s, like the TL. We drove 4 different cars before we found one without vibrations somewhere between 70-90 MPH. I know I haven`t posted much on here, but I`ve been a faithful lurker and learned a lot since I bought my TL in April 02. I just want to say thanks!

EL42's = CRAP.
they rattle, squeak, virbate and has bad traction on anything except dry roads (and that's only DECENT, definately not fitting the 3G TL and G35 they are equipped on) i definately recommend a change of tires.

if i remember correctly, g35x = AWD, right? hmm i also recall something along the lines of a g35i? or maybe i am mistakening it as the g35x haha

anyway, congrats on the purchase. G35's are good cars, imo.

so you have both a 03 TLS and 05 G35x now? what a sweet garage!

 

No more TL. Traded it in on the G35X. You`re right, it is AWD. My garage just has a Ram 1500, which I usually drive, and now the 35X, which will be mainly the wife`s ride/family car. She and I were both getting a little gunshy about all the tranny probs. I was going to trade my Ram in and get a Subie Outback, but we decided to part with the TL instead.

 

Why didn't you get the FX? Cool looking SUV.

 

$$$$ Over $40 Grand for the same equipment. It`s a lot smaller inside than you would think, too.
