If GM would have killed off their association with the UAW and their workers insane pay and pensions.....then I would have accepted their "thanks".

The reality is that GM will be back in BK in about 10 years or so because they still have the UAW as a leech.

Say thank you by giving me my money back

Say thank you by bringing over the Holden Commodore to U.S. soil FFS. Or just make a RWD, V8 sports sedan available with a 6-speed manual for less than $35k again.

It doesn't matter if the cancer is a part of your body and removing it could possibly kill you. If you're going to die anyways, might as well take the chance and fight to remove the cancer.

Well. That's not something you can put blame on them for. It isn't that easy to just snap your fingers and make the Uaw f off.

They were in BK.....it could have been done almost that easy, but Obama told them if you want the gov't. coin, keep the pensions and insane union salaries.

Union men always protect themselves....from the bottom to the top.

Obama put the union gun to GM's head.

Good point. It certainly is not easy for any of the formerly Big 3 to rid themselves of the UAW. This is what Ford's contract with the UAW looks like

Nonetheless, UAW demands are ridiculous. The fact that money from every car made by UAW contracted employees goes to the UAW's ever growing pension costs can only end in ruin, one way or another.

I'm as anti-union now as anyone but Ford's been able to make it work and it's because they hired a guy who gets it.

GM is still too big with too many brands and it seems like every CEO they want to hire has to be vetted by the UAW first.

Not going to get them the best candidate.

Optimists quickly point out that GM’s bankruptcy eliminated much of the company’s debt. True, but what about GM’s massive pension plan with about $100 billion in liabilities?

The world’s largest, it transferred as-is to the “new” company… all in order to keep the UAW happy. So the GM rescue means little in the end. Sure, it isn’t making any contributions to the pension fund now. But it says it may have to put in $4.3 billion in 2014 and $5.7 billion in 2015… and maybe even more in the future.

If that happens – and it will – General Motors will probably face bankruptcy again some day down the road.

GM had a chance with BK to get rid of the UAW mess.....Ford didn't have the luxury of BK. GM is the same as it was before the bailout...before BK.

$100 billion...that's like a third of the entire state of Kalifornia's pension madness!

Stupid GM.

I haven't taken any straight up finance classes but I knew even before bankruptcy that the bailout wasn't going to do crap. How the hell does a snot nosed kid like me know that when a multibillion dollar (at least when you consider liabilities ) company and a legion of advisors in the government can't figure that out?

That's where you are wrong.

You think the gov't was there to "save GM". Nope!

The gov't was their to save the Union and their "beloved" workers.
(the union could care less about it's workers...the union only cares about the union)
The Union got their politicians elected....and so now, like the whores that they are, they turn their tricks for the union that got them elected.

Politicians bought and sold by the union....the corruption runs deep.

Um, you're welcome?

Though the actual "thank you" will be completely paying me and every other tax paying American back.

At least I got a great car out of the deal. And you must admit, that was a pretty cool ad.

Agreed. I suppose it's also easy to feel good about yourself knowing you don't need to pay tax................. For years.

Knocked on their ass and back on their feet. I agree that some sort of bailout was probably in order, but I absolutely detest GM's current marketing initiative displaying that it was their focus and direction that led to their improved situation.
