LMAO that was funny.

Anyway though I would say they do have bad cars. My mom has a GM company car (I would never let her buy a GM car) and it leaks on the driveway. Its a 2006 DTS with about 23k on it she took it in to be fixed but they didnt fix it so it has to go back. Thank God she gets a new car every two years (sadly its just another GM).

wow.

Isnt a known fact that the rear ends on those are pretty weak?

For all we know he was launching the car hard before he made the video.

/devil advocate

But why his engine vibrating so much, from the throttle body?

I don't think you are suppose to keep driving the car if its that jacked. Is it going to fix itself? I hope somebody from GM sees that vid. Guy was a dumbace.

No way would I have driven that thing home. Looked like a death wish to me. To be fair, all makes have their problems, though. I hope they buy that guy's car back. Don't know how much better he'll be off with a beamer, though.

The diffs are a known problem.

The car sounded like crap though and the engine should have not been shaking like that.

This is really sad because back in the heydays of American supercars (mid-60's), GM supercars were known for their quality, strength of components, and ass-kicking ability.

When I was narrowing my decision down, which resuled in my '04 manual TL, that last two contenders were the CTS-V and the TL. How 'bout them apples?

My first thought when viewing this video was a blown MAF which puts you in "limp home" mode. I had this happen with my last car, a 2002 Altima SE. Nissan had a rash of problems with their MAFs and blown MAFs were common.

Then I thought, white "smoke" from his exhaust. That generally means coolant which would indicate a leaking head gasket.

Anyway, I love my TL and am quite pleased with my purchase.

wow

Too bad he had all that trouble. But shit... If I were GM and saw that video... Did he cause more damage by driving it that whole way? And if so... Should that have been warrantied?

Sure, I wouldn't want to be stuck 100 miles from home, but to me he made a poor decision driving that car home.

Regardless, sucks to be him.

I have a client with a CTS-V, his rear diff has been replaced too, but otherwise no problems (knock on wood).

HAHA well Cadillac has the most problems in 5 years than anyother car brand according to consumer reports in 2004. I would never get a cadillac sure they look nice but damn they probably run for shit.

Even if a FEW GM cars have issues, i would still buy a CTS-V.

I like taking a risk and my Audi purchase proved that reliablity stories/charts arent always true. Im still rockin with no issues..... YET.

Plus wasnt GM giving out 100k mile warranties? Damn... cant beat that.

I'm sorry but if the car had already been to the dealership four times prior to this, driving it in that condition wouldn't have made a difference one way or another; the car is fucked.

What a hunk of shit

The day I actually take car advice from a magazine that also reviews dishwashers and televisions is the day I listen to actors views on politics.

Trust me, Caddy's are no bigger pieces of shit than the 06 5series my oldman has that's been back to the dealer a half dozen times for i-drive related issues.

All cars have problems.

Not to mention, that guy's Caddy dealer must suck balls and why didn't he call road side assistance or use Onstar to get help? That car comes with it.

Overall, Cadillac has very good reliability figures and the LS2 in the CTS-V is a very solid engine. Sometimes people unfortunately get a lemon which can happen with any manufacturer. Also, the way he is treating the car not calling for roadside assistance is sketchy. Who knows what he did to the car prior to the video.

I think he did mention about calling roadside assistance.

He said he didnt want it towed to the nearest dealer since hes 200 miles away from home and didnt want to drive back to pick his car up.

Waaa, 200 miles.....yeah that's a real crazy road trip to make.

So instead, I'll just drive my broken car home potentially doing more damage to it.

Even if he paid to have the car flatbedded back to his place, it wouldn't have costed much more than $200-$300. And honestly, I'm sure GM would have put up the tab once he made the phone call explaining what happened.

...and prior to this video, I have not heard of any problems with the CTS-V or any CTS (or even any Caddy) for that matter.

I'm sure I could have got something else if I went back. The CE light didn't come on till I was a long way from the airport. I wasn't going back & spending $$ on tolls.

Consumer Reports has a bunch of solid black (that means bad) rating circles for reliability issues from their surveys on all years of the CTS 6 cylinders from the very beginning (2002 or 2003); I don't think there was enough data to rate the CTS-Vs.
I like the exterior, the 3.6 "big" V-6 and the size of the CTS, but my wife told me "No Cadillacs," as she thought I was too young for it. I would have considered the CTS more seriously had the repair history been better/more equivocal and if the interior of the TL wasn't so much nicer.

For what it's worth, my mother has a 2004 (I think) CTS V6 which has had zero problems with it (other than replacing the crappy Eagle RS-As on it). I won't say she drives it hard at all, but she's putting some decent miles on it.
