yeah im picking this 97 integra up and kind of stoked. The thing is im buying it straight cash from someone and is it true all the seller will need to do is give me the pink slip/title then i just have to register it to the dmv and pay more taxes? Because I never bought a car private seller.

 

He needs to sign the title over to you.

 

Depends on the state what you need, but usually you'll need a bill of sale and the title signed over to you. Go to your states DMV website and if they are worth a damn it'll be easy to find out.

Also, the seller has the responsibility to get the buyer a smog certificate for the car in CA as well as signing over the pink slip.

 

you don't pay the taxes, the seller does as he has "collected" them at time of sale...

when you buy something the TAX is included, therefore the TAX should be paid to the state by the seller, make sure that you note that in the bill of sale or contract or whatever other document you use to make the transaction.

 

Dude, you're high on crack. I've have never heard of a private party sale where you pay sales tax to a private citizen and expect them to pay the state. That's how it works when you buy from a dealer, private party you end up paying it at the registry or town hall.
