General 'red light' traffic question...
Three way intersection. I pull up to the light and 2 lanes turn left, 2 lanes turn right. I am in the far right (inside) right lane. The lights are arrows and they turn red. I am up front and stop at the line and no traffic is coming. I am hesitant to turn right because it is a red arrow BUT there is no sign whatsoever saying 'no right turn on red' plus there is no crosstraffic. So after stopping and thinking about it several times I eventually turn right and drive off.
Question is, is that legal? That intersection has cameras all around it so yeaa.... if I did do it illegally then :fuckthereis$$downthedrain:

In california you're not supposed to turn right on a red arrow pointed right.

I looked up the Texas DMV handbook, didn't see anything in there, but doesn't make it legal though.

Someone just brought up the point that maybe the lights were arrows instead of solid because they were lane indicators. 2 left arrows were for the left lanes, 2 right arrows for the right lanes.
Personally, I would've stopped, checked to see if clear, and then proceeded to turn if clear.
It may possibly be a 'no turn on red' thing though.
Here is my guess why.
There is an intersection similar to that back in my home town where it's a three way, and there is two lanes turning right, and one left, and there is a sign that says 'No Right Turn on Red' but just has standard red light.
My guess, is if they didn't put that, you could be running into some pretty big problems if bimbos on the inside turning lane decided to turn on red.
Plenty of people (up here in DFW at least I'm sure you've noticed) can't follow the dotted lines in the middle of the intersection to save their lives.

Not sure about Texas law but in Oregon an arrow only indicates a mandatory turning direction. Any turn on red or red arrow is permitted after stopping. Red right arrows are rare around here so I don't see them often.
As far as I know, California is one of the few states where red arrow = No Turn on Red.

Texas law (§ 544.007) allows right turn on red, provided you have come to a complete stop behind the stop line or crosswalk, and have yielded the right of way to any traffic and pedestrians. Texas law also permits local municipalities to disallow right on red, however, a sign notifying the driver must be present at the intersection. ..
I think I am good. /worry.

Update: I emailed a guy from the city's transportation department and looks like I am correct.
He said "Unless an intersection has a "No Right Turn on Red" sign, one may turn right on red after yielding to any conflicting movement (westbound through on Carrier in this instance). A red arrow and a red ball are the same. The red arrow, as you correctly believe, is a lane designation."

Simple.
