Didn't know about the Jag F-Type.... the C-X16 is one of my favorite cars design-wise, ever. I'm disappointed that it's only a convertible... hopefully they'll made a hardtop version.
Still looks mighty sexy.

1st deal on the Mustang didn't go so well. Car is priced at $26K by the dealer & they offered me $15,000 for the TL, which is low balling the hell out of it. I only owe $14K on it, so they pretty much factored the difference to make $25K, & w/ $1,500 down, I could finance for $416/month.
That is well beyond affordable, but there's 2 issues: The TL is worth $17.5K to Acura themselves, so I'm not letting them cheap skate me & resale it for $20K+. Second, the salesman wanted the have the deal done by tomorrow afternoon even though the car hasn't even been washed & I haven't driven it yet.
So, going to head back on Saturday morning, & speak directly to a GM so the salesman doesn't get his cut and why in reality, the car is actually available for $21,000 to employees (invoice is $19,995).

I discovered the reason I'm not getting the discount is because the managers have decided to not give it at all to anyone; they believe there's too much interest in the car which is bullshit because the car has been sitting in the back lot for 3 days now & only just went on the website this morning.
I did discover tonight though that besides a rear end collision reported by the salesman (because he has to disclose that), the Carfax also shows a front sideswipe at the fault of the 1st owner, a clutch replaced, & the entire front seat removed & airbag as well as new comp. module.
Which I guess means I'm looking at a car with hard miles. And with no discount, going to pass for now. I'll make a serious "low ball" offer of $22K for it if it's going to auction.

But, I'm still going to test drive her regardless of whether I buy her or not. Just depends on whenever they get around to actually cleaning it up.

I need some input from you guys. Currently I have the following in my stable:
- '13 FR-S
- '03 CL-S6
- '90 Civic hatch
- '88 Honda NT650
One of these needs to go. The FR-S and the NT650 will not be on the chopping block.
The CL-S - Chassis has ~161k miles. It has a built motor and a decent sound system with some suspension mods. It keeps blowing through axles and motor mounts because theyre weak and I don't feel like dropping $900 on custom axles. The clear coat on the roof and trunk is flaking. I currently have a CF hood and trunk on the car but plan on selling those since Ive never really liked them. The interior is in decent shape for a 10 year old car. The dash has the typical 2G shrinkage issues. I've had tons of plans for this car but they were snuffed out when I got the FR-S, and I haven't driven it in 4 months. If I sell it, the motor is being replaced with a stock 3.2l unless someone makes me a ridiculously good offer on it.
The Civic - Chassis has nothing. Seriously. Its a shell with a cage in it. It was K series prepped, I just never got around to putting it together once I got rid of my Prelude and bought the CL (notice a pattern?). I've got TONS of aftermarket and new-old stock parts that you cant get anymore. Unfortunately, its the unloved EF/ED chassis that doesnt have that big of a following, so selling the parts is going to be difficult. Im currently selling the K20Z3/tranny/KPro that was to go into it and I hope to have that gone in the next two weeks since Im selling it for pennies on the dollar.
Scenario 1 - Revert the CL to stock, then sell the car after the winter. Finish the Civic and put the 3.6l in it. Put the sound system from the CL in the FR-S.
Scenario 2 - Sit on the Civic parts for who know how long until theyre all sold and keep the CL as a beater. Constantly pull my hair out any time the axles break. Possibly upgrade them.
Virginia charges personal property tax on the vehicle, and the CL is currently ~$100 a year. The Civic would be less. Full coverage on the CL is $1,000 a year, the Civic won't have full coverage. To do what I want to the Civic, Im looking at about $7k worth of paint/body work (though the body work I may do myself) and other parts. If I were to sell the CL, I'd list it for about $7500 with hopes of getting $7k out of it. Im trying not to be sentimental, but the Civic carries more weight in that category as it was my first car (not that specific chassis, but I had an 88 hatch) and I always wanted to do something crazy with it.
Which would you choose if you were in my shoes?

At this point, the EMS is going into the Civic when it gets the 3.6l. But I've got the winter to think about it and plan everything out. Right now though, its looking like the CL is being put back to stock and sold

If you really want a project car the civic is not a bad choice, but like you said it needs alot of work. Basically you have 3 projec cars, the cl, frs, civic. You say the frs won't be as worked on as the cl, but you know you will be modding it more and more, sooner or later. The cl needs some tlc, but not major work right? The civic is just a shell? I say sell the civic and parts, put that money into the cl either to sell for more, or keep it.

In addition,
1) take a hiatus, say 24 months, from modifying the FR-S. Invest all available discretionary proceeds into a place to live building equity along the way. Or seek out a degree program that will expand your money making skill sets (IT, correct?)
2) curtail (temporarily, of coarse) your time spent on forums like this. Project this new found available time into number one above and/or number three below or as you like.
Think Stoogie.
3) seek out Cognitive-behavioral therapy for the level of OCD you are plagued with, it will work wonders. Continue with the physical excercise regime and healthy diet you have spoke about in other posts. It appears that you have addressed the Crohn's issues, in conjuction with your excercise regimen, this will serve as motivation to work through the rough patches along the way.
You are in your mid twenties, articulate in your posts, present yourself as a decent lot AND you have plenty of time to revert back to your passion as a car enthusiast.
In addition, this post is NOT ment as a personal attack.
Good Luck.

The search for the 5.0 continues. Despite the rain, went out to Plano to look at a '12 GT that turned out to be a dud. Bland, basic interior w/ automatic. Don't get me wrong, not a bad car to drive, but without even a simple "Manual" mode & that nasty shift lever, it'd be a downgrade from the Acura in every way.
After that waste of gas, went back across town to look at this one instead.
It's gonna have the same bland interior, but it's a '11 GT w/ half the miles of the one at work minus the CS-option and available at the same price. That and it's a manual, which means if it's as fun to drive as the last GT I drove a month back, I'll sacrifice the comforts of the TL for the power. The GT500 wheels, stripes, & looks like it's lowered are a bonus.
Unfortunately, b/c it was manual though, I didn't get to test drive it because of the rain. I didn't get to really run the other one hard (not that it mattered as the auto is stupidly sluggish on the downshifts), so I didn't want to start talking figures over a boring test drive. The salesman did understand I wanted to make sure I got to experience a full 2nd-3rd gear pull on the car since that would be the whole point of the purchase. So, he's doing me a favor & offering to try to hold onto the car til' sometime this week when I can have some real seat time in it.

i say sell the cl. You want a project car. The civic hatch looks more like one to me. You already have an engine for it, and selling the CL with the part out, you will get some money for the civic project.
Civic would be more fun as a project car, cause its a small light car that literally wont have any fat in it when its done.

It would probably fix the axle issue, but the mounts were still a problem with the stock motor. At least the axles have a replacement warranty.

I like the sedan more. I was a little disappointed that they're not offering the V6 6MT combo in the sedan... but I guess I shouldn't be surprised given that it wasn't offered in the previous gen (8G) sedan either.
It looks good except for that rear bumper and the afterthought fog lights. Anyone know if it comes with an LSD transaxle?
