Do you think it'll hit the auction.. shiett.. I'll drive it. Especially with those money symbols and Fuck You Fag scratched in.. that's how I'd order it from the factory.
GTI. Even if it is just the S, it is worth driving against the ST to see which one he likes more. The ST will be the better value but he may like the VW.
So my friend has a budget of $25K on a fun utility car.
I suggested him to get a Ford Focus ST.
What would you suggest?
The MMC 2015 hasn't hit lots yet - maybe he can find an ST with the ST3 package and get a really good deal. I've seen stories of some getting it at $25-27k.
Otherwise Fiesta ST would be great if the size works for him.

Got a notification of our first Performance-PKG RC-F being built & on its way with a 2nd (Nebula Gray/Red). Will be one of the first in the US. $80,000 in this configuration.
True, it does. But, chances are those cars aren't its competition which its priced against.
Huh? I just went to the BMW website and optioned up an M4 coupe to a reasonable level (not everything, but quite a bit) and it came out to $79,075. Is that not the kind of car the RC-F is gunning for, because the comparisons are inevitable.

$80k brings a lot of other good cars into play.

Unless a lot is referring to 3 cars (M4, C63 AMG, or RS5), then those other good cars don't really matter unless you purposely intent on cross-shopping them.
$80K could get me in a Z06 (& that's what I'd rather buy), but it's not a RC-F competitor. That's all I'm saying.

M4, RS5, ATS-V, C63, F-Type, Cayman S are all in that range either with few options or loaded. Stiff competition for the RC-F. Not including the Z28 or Z06 but I don't know they would be cross shopped with the Lexus.
With the performance package on the RC-F, I think first set of cars I mentioned are all in play.
this is disappointing....... I would say it's the most desirable Viper model, only 100 made, and this one only has 400 miles on it....... I would have expected it to be going for a good deal more, at least like 200k. anyways.

hmm I think what "$80k brings a lot of other good cars into play" would mean is:
"there are a lot of other cars I'd rather have for $80k"
it's a statement I certainly would go by. and people shopping for that kind of car want performance - think about it what other performance cars can you get for $80k... have a look at the used market

Neither of these are RC-F competitors though, & the ATS-V hasn't technically been released (pricing was only just recently released).
Unless the car is the M4, C63, RS5, or even ATS-V, trying to bring up anything else for $80K isn't really relative. Your own preferences for cars in that range aren't what Lexus is after with the RC line. You could state there are a lot of other cars for $235,000 than a CGT Speed like a 911 GT or Italian-made supercar, but they're not really intent to be compared, are they?

Re: "your own preferences" - the same can be said for car shoppers - everyone has their own preferences and what they are going to cross-shop. Someone might have the Cayman and the RC-F in mind, you don't know.

Not to mention these are all $80k sports sedans/coupes. So apparently, Lexus is going for some niche group that doesn't want any of those cars I mentioned.

Someone might have in mind a $100,000 GT-R & a $100,000 Ghibli. You don't know, but that doesn't mean they're suddenly built to be compared b/c some random guy decided to think about which one he'd rather have.
