I’m surprised she was smart enough to shut off the nozzle before pulling it out.
I saw a report on TV about this.
They said that women are more likely to do it because more of them get back in the car while it pumps while guys just stand there and wait.
The static charge is built up from sliding across the seat.
I’m sure that fluffy sweater contributed too.

One of the guys from Aerosmith supposedly burned up himself and his ferrari at a gas pump a few towns over when he left his ignition on.

I'm a Firefighter and been to a few gas pump fires. The worst one we had we went through somewhere between 1500-2000 gallons of water and 200 gallons of foam(which is about 4 BIG barrels).
the thing is people don't realize about "B" class fires(which is oil fires. everyone wants to throw water on them. the thing is Oil and water seperate. so we hit it with Foam. it kind of "chokes it out of air."
we were pumping about 175 gallons a minute out of 1.5 inch line onto that nasty gas pump fire. we had it contained pretty much in about 12-15 mins . because I usually go through a air pack bottle in a half hour. I was half way through my bottle when i shut it down.
then after we had the fire contained we did wonderful HAZ-MAT
which as you can tell i hate.
