G35C less appealing
After reading the Edmunds article on the G35 Coupe, I have become much less interested in this car. Mainly due to the weight and HP.
I actually placed a $1k deposit on a silver G35C last month, but a few weeks after, I asked for a refund. Mainly due to the fact that I moved to Danbury CT, and the winters up here are not great for a RWD car.
Now I am glad with my decision. How did they end up making the coupe HEAVIER than the 4 door version? I know our cars definitely need some weight loss, but 3400+ lbs and less hp/torque than the 350z had me really disappointed.
I also hate the interior of the G35, so I am not upset with the loss.
I have to say the 350z looks more and more attractive each time I see it. I was in Queens over the weekend, and I saw 4!! in one day. I think the red looks the best personally.
What are your thoughts on the weight issue for the G35c?

Depends on the car you want. The G35 coupe will smoke every car in its class (luxury coupes) with the 280hp and 270 ft/lbs of torque. It will probably handle just as well as a 3 series and you do get Infiniti service.
However, if you want performance, the 350Z is the way to go. There is almost nothing in the $30,000 range (except S2000) that can match its performance. I think its a gorgeous car and it gets rave reviews from everywhere. My friend had one for a week because he works for Nissan and he loves it. The manual on the new 350Z and coupe are supposed to be very very good. Almost as good as the S2000 which I think is the best. If you don't need the back seats, I'd go 350Z

Road & TRack does a review of the G35 coupe in the new issue. It says 0-60 in 6.1 sec. Overall, they gave it a good review saying it is heavy but performs well. Itis more of a luxury coupe and will target a different segment of the market compared with the 350Z. Looks pretty good though, besides the spoiler that has no place being there. I still prefer the 6speed CL-s. Much better interior layout. Hopefully one day Acura will wake up and offer a bodykit that looks as good as the one for the TL.

wait... isn't our car 3500 lbs or so as well? that's what is to be expected from a luxury car... especially if you want a 2+2 design like that tryin' to squeeze in more seast is always costly in weight b/c you've gotta use more steel to protect rear passengers as well am I right? anyways I don't see what's so dissappointing about the G35C 6.1 0-60 is nothing to be dissappointed about... what does our CLS run 0-60?

Is the 6.1 their 6 speed manual? Our CLS 6 speed runs 5.9 0-60. (mag times).
If that is true, I knew it wasn't worth putting the $$ down on. The 350z on the other hand.........

I think that the styling is a love/hate thing on the G35. I like the fact that it's a RWD car, but I just don't like the front end of the car (headlights).
It's a nice looking car, it just doesn't do it for me.

I'd still rather get the Z though
