Took the G35C plunge.

It's official. I now am the owner of a G35C 6mt silver/black. The car is simply amazing, although I have yet to get on it. I want to break it in right...

I got a decent trade on the CLS and the tax savings were a big plus. Drove it home, and I couldn't be happier.

I'll miss the CLS dearly, but I just couldn't put up with the transmission problems. Call it what you will, but until you experience a sudden downshift, you really don't understand what it means to sh!t your pants. I justified the move for ONE reason, safety. If I kept the car and my wife was driving and something happened to her, I could NEVER live it down. Acura/Honda says it's safe, and even some members here think things are OK, but ya know what... I didn't want to find out.

I won't be going away... You people couldn't get rid of me. There is a WEALTH of information here and I still love the CLS. It is a GREAT car. And I really think the members here are wonderful. I'll be sticking up the CLS when the trolls come over, and I'll defend the G35C if need be. But I'll always have a place in my heart for the CLS.

Some pics...

Fvcking awesome man... Nice, classy, fast... Quote from the wife:

"The engine sound alone on startup makes it worth it"

Quite possibly the only thing she has ever said about cars that I'd agree with.

Congrats dude, MODS???

10.5" with a 285/30/19 fits no problem although the diameter is off 1" from the stock 26.7". Right offset for that size is around +22 to +25.

Excellent work, Scrib! As soon as you can, and assuming you don't break 4K RPM, bed your pads. Try this procedure here. It will make a world of difference with those Brembos.

Be sure to NOT leave your foot on the pedal after heating up the pads and rotors when coming to a stop. I go out at 6 A.M. on Saturdays to bed my pads when I change them so I can run lights and stop signs and not use the brakes while they are cooling.

NICE!!

Good choice. I think I'm gonna be right behind you with a Coupe..... I'm leaning towards the coupe over the Z (but that could change tomorrow)...

Make my diamond graphite though

Quick question for ya though--

How would you compare the ride of the CL and G35, in terms of comfort/ride harsness over bumps? I've driven a G35 Coupe before, but it was quite a while ago, plus it was waaaay after my CL-S was gone. So it's hard for me to make a comparison without being able to drive them back to back.

Just as a reference. How much did Infiniti pay you for the trade? and what was the mileage on the car?

Thanks

Sorry guys... I was out tonight, visiting my sister for the day. I put 100 miles on the car, and so far I'm impressed. I did have a hell of a time getting the car moving on an incline. I almost tagged the car behind me.

Jesal - You can come and see it any time. Bring your ass down to Indiana.

For those who asked what I got for trade, it was 20.5K, 10100 miles. Yes, I lost a bit of money.

As for mods... I'm not going to do anything to the car with the exception of some tints. I've read bad things about the Injen intake that is available, and to be quiote honest I just want to leave the car stock. It doesn't need anything. I haven't really jumped on it, but the power in 3rd and 4th is nuts.

Tom - Call me crazy, but the ride is smoother when the road is good, but gets way bumpy when over rougher roads. Almost like the car transforms or something. If the roads are GOOD, I'd say the ride is better than the CLS. However, the tires make a LOT of noise it seems.

The spoiler looks better in person. The spoiler on the sedan looks like ASS, but I'm actually a fan of it on the coupe. As it was said, to each his own.

I'm really friggin' tired. It was a long day, and this whole experience has worn me out. I'll post more tomorrow.

Beautiful Car

I like that car from every angle, save the Rear, but I'm sure even that BUTT could GROW on me.

Love the Brembos
