G35 Advice / pricing

Hey guys I am looking into purchasing a G35 coupe, I wanted to start compiling info and figured that the G35 forums would be a great place to start... does anyone know of any good G35 forums? Has anyone heard of any long term reliability issues with the G35? I put LOTS of miles on my car and am very concerned with reliability, I got alot out of my typeS and I am looking for the same out of my next car....

please provide any info that may be helpful

I like g35driver.com more than freshalloy.com, although they both have good info.

I rarely post on either, but there's lots of good info.

I've had my coupe two years now and it has been an absolute blast to drive with no real problems. Very well built.

Ask me all the questions you like...

Scrib how has your mileage been? Heard the highway mileage is not what it could be.

Example I get 29 or 30 on a long trip in the CLS.

It's not stellar, but the VQ3.5 isn't known for fuel efficiency.

I get about 26mpg on the highway with no cruise set. 26mpg is what Infiniti says it should be getting on the highway. So I can't complain, I guess.

City driving is pretty bad though... About 16-17mpg

u wont regret.

www.g35driver.com

www.my350z.com

it takes me usually 16 gallons to fill up a tank and i will get anywhere between 300-350 miles depends on how i drive. this is for my bone stock 05.
once u put on bigger rims + 275 tires like what i had on my 03. i could get 260-300 miles.

g35 is one of the most reliabile cars i have owned.. next to my ex-xb.

Go see my brother at West Chester Infiniti. He'll hook you up. oonowindoo is right, on the highway expect about 22-25 mpg. In the city it drops bad to around 16-18.

But you know what, who cares. It's a sweet ass car. I love mine. You'll definately find yourself turning off the radio and listening to your exhaust when you take off at stoplights.

g35driver is better than fresh alloy, but they both generally suck compared to this site. I tried oh so hard to keep up there, but it's so boring, I gave up after a month. I have a '05 G35x, btw. For the record, my city driving is like 11mpg, and that's with my wife driving it 95% of the time..It really sucks balls..

Deezam.. that is some terrible mileage, I drive a ton and that scares me slightly.... That is about 25% more $$ on gas!

Scrib, did u hear anything about infinit cancelling the g35 after this model year?? If so, could that affect maintenance costs? How are the maintenance costs vs Acura's?

Are there significant differences between the model years?

If Infiniti cancels the G35, hell will be frozen. It's their best selling line. No way it's going away.

Maintinance... I couldn't really tell you considering not one damn thing has gone wrong with my car. I'm still under warranty, however.

I'm getting close to my 15,000 service interval. While I normally don't get these performed in total, I can say it'll cost me $180 at the dealer. I think that's very similar to that of Acura.

The one thing that costs a ton on my car is the Brembo braking system. Infiniti did away with the Brembos... The theory to why is cost. For example, a new rotor costs $500. For a BLANK rotor. No idea why this is, but aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors are MUCH cheaper. A caliper, I believe costs about $1,000. But they’re damn good brakes.

Oh and tires... I cut a tire the other day and had to get it replaced. $300 for one tire.

I don't see costs being any worse than an Acura. Service is much better at my Infiniti dealer versus what I had at the Acura dealer... And I had great service there. Almost hard to imagine it could be better.

Infiniti has one of the best names out there for reliability. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The differenced between the '03, '04 and '05 are... A bit more horsepower 298 versus 280, some minor tweaks to the interior, did away with the Brembos on the 6mt coupe, and the sports package comes with 19s instead of 18s.

Those are the main differences.

Cool, thanks... I am going to head over to g35driver and see if anyone there has info / speculation on when they are changing the body style, and long term problems 100k miles plus...

I'll be in the market for some cheaper tire immediately!!

The brakes shipping on the '05s are very good. They are prone to fade if you really abuse them. The Brembos do not fade.

It's personal perference really. I haven't, nor will, push my car to it's limits to understand the capabilities of the Brembos. With that, they do look really friggin' cool and people look at them all the time. That for me, is worth it.

Mrs. Ed does all her driving in NYC, so "city driving" means mostly stopped or going 20-25mph..
