G35 6spd mop up
I'am driving north on the 170 freeway around the north hollywood area at about 2pm when all of a sudden a white G35 coupe rolls up on me fast. He then slams on his brakes and throws his flasher's on. I then drop it in SS and leave it in 3rd. He looks over at me and laughs like, yeah right are you serious. So i say lets go we both hit and before you know it i'am already a car ahead then 2 cars. He lets off and doesn't even bother until about 3 miles up the freeway when i'am about to get off. He follows me off the freeway and we get to a stop light and he says to me, know lets see who's car is faster now. I turn the tcs off, light turns green and we are off. I jump out about half a car and and keep pulling away from him. This guy gives me the biggest respect ever and tells me he will never race a TL-S again. I said that's right respect the A then he drove off.

I dunno bout all that
You are asking for it man. I feel some FLAME coming on. Our car cant even take the G35 sedan. The 6 speed cl might be a closer competition with the g35 sedan. No you are talking about the coupe. I think that guy you raced dont know how to drive his car. There is no way that a g35 coupe will loose to out TLS. unless you got a turbo under the hood. There is a thread somewhere that state that even with a super charger out TLS might still have trouble so I dont want to bust your bubble but there is NO WAY your tls can take the g35. I am sure everyone agree.

i raced a 350z last night on da freeway from about 50 -90 mph and i had a slight jump by a second at MOST and he did not pull up more than but a few feet per scond it seemed.. he was modded and i have a stock TL-S... i dont think he knew how to drive it but he did have a riculously big wing for a 350z.

ASSEMBLED TO PERFECTION
do u kno if it was stick or auto??
If it is auto its definetly believable
if its stick hmm dont know, but then again its possible he has most of the mods u can do to a TL-S.
Good kill!

WTF is wrong with a TL-P? Mod the car, before you say anything. A modded TL-P can rock most cars on the road.
I love my TL-P.

Three Wheelin'
A G35 coupe ran with me last month on the freeway from 50 to 90 full out both cars wailing.....dead tie. He stayed on my rear bumper the whole way ( but was in the left lane) and when we broke it off he hadn't gained at all. I have a '00 TL-P with I/H/E/P and the Mugen cooling system upgrades. Stock wheels as well.

And just remember, anything is possible on the road. Maybe the guy in the G35 Coupe was just really bad at driving stick. Or maybe it was an auto ... The G35 Coupe Autos are not nearly as fast as everyone is making them out to be. A stock G35 Coupe Auto could be taken by a TL-S with the mods that this guy has. I forget what an auto G35 Coupe runs, but with his mods, the TL-S should be good for a low 14 run. Even the G35 Coupe 6spd was "only" putting down low 14s in the magazines (C&D April 2003, 1/4 mile: 14.2 @ 100mph). Lightweight wheels and sticky tires could be a factor in the stop light race too.
Its a little less believable if the G35 Coupe was a 6spd driven by a competant driver ... but hey a win is a win right?
All I'm saying is that nothing is impossible when it comes to street races ... especially when two cars are fairly close in hp numbers lik the modded TL-S and G35 Coupe.

Of course stock versus stock the G35C 6spd would kill a TL-S.

still a Masshole
so much misinformation!!!
Liqice is pretty right on except that a stock G35c6 should still beat a heavily modded (headers, intake, exhaust, UR pullies) TLS. I don't recall seeing too many (or any for that matter) 14.4 TLSs without boost or spray while many stock g35c6s see very low 14s. In the real world (especially from a roll) the TLS can hang. I for one believe the outcome because its not like he pulled buses on the G. We don't even know if the G was auto or manual. And finally anything is possible on the streets since we don't live in a magazine or a perfect world.
I say nice kill.

I haven't gotten a chance to run recently, but I figure with the same mods as mrsteve I should be running numbers close to his 14.2s. I dunno, maybe he's the exception to the rule ...

That's why I said TLS. I know the cars are the same but honestly I've never seen a non-boosted or non-spray TLS run better than a 14.5. There are a few CLS autos with h/i/e/p running consistent 14.5 or better. I know mrsteve and bulldog01 have hit 14.2 (I was actually there when bulldog01 did it at epping) and mattg has hit 14.1. The night bulldog01 hit his 14.2 he had 2 other 14.4 runs. He had the exact same setup as me (headers and intake, although I had OBX/CT and he had Stone/AEM) yet the best I could do was a 14.6. We even raced head to head and he got a 14.4 to my 14.7. I admit I sucketh at the launch but I still haven't seen a TLS run that well.

I just didn't think the cars would be running different times like that.. Will have to see whenever I get the chance to go back to the track.
