+1, Brazil has the perfect climate and soil for sugarcane.

Switchgrass has great potential but the science needs to be worked out for the processing. Not as good as sugarcane in energy density but much better than corn. It's a shame the politicians, farmers and lobbyist won out over the scientists in the whole corn ethanol debacle.

Here's an IDEA

Make roads that allows for inductive charging.

Electric cars are now constantly charging!

Wireless charging ftw?!

And since this would be decades in the future maybe it would be at a point where this electricity is all coming clean sources e.g renewable, nuclear etc. That'd be pretty awesome.

And race tracks and drag strips can have more electricity flowing to them, while parking garages dont need much and fwy, etc. have a good amount to keep the car constantly running.

I wonder how many wind farms, nuclear reactors, water generators and such would be needed to power the roads haha. Build an island thats just full of nuclear reactors or something.

So I was just chatting about this with a friend, and he was telling me that hydrogen has a similar problem with batteries. Creating the cells is not environmentally friendly at all and that itself uses a lot of gas. Is there any validity in this statement? I've never heard of it.

But then they'd have to put something in the car to monitor how much energy you'd be drawing and somehow charge you for it.

Gasoline, horrible fuel as it may be, is not going away anytime soon.
$476 billion in the US system (2010).

Dye diesel made from corn oil or making the car charge itself while running and braking.

Energy is only transferred and cannot be created or destroyed.

In any case, all cars of the future will have an ugly, obnoxious/over-styled design. Seems like the trend these days. They will also have a heads-up facebook app available.

Philly has like 1 public CNG refilling station...and frickin Camden New Jersey...

No one is going to buy the NAtural gas Civic if there's no refilling stations. And this part of Pennsylvania is shale gas country
