a funny thread

So I was looking at hybrids cause I was bored and gas prices are still going up When I got some info on the 2006 Honda Insight and thought I would share my laugh with you. so heres the stats:

65hp 1.0liter I-3 (gasoline hybrid)
0-60 time = 15.07sec.
1/4 mile = 21.09 @ 73mph

Cars.com said it had "spirited acceleration" in the manual model... how do you get spirited accelation out of a 15sec. 0-60!?!?! Now the 08 Lexus LS 600h should be more my speed (v8 hybrid!!!) I saw somewhere it should have like 400 hp but its not official yet. I'll let you guys know when I get one.
GOD SPEED

You buy an Insight to save gas; you buy a Lexus hybrid to be a brand whore.

nowadays, you'd be surprised how many people will consider buying, or actually buy a hybrid luxury car just because of the word "hybrid", even though the gas mileage increase is marginal at best.

and there's absolutely no need for an LS hybrid. if you're spending almost $100k on a car, and you're concerned with gas mileage, you're an idiot.

Well from what i understand, theyr trying to market luxury hybrids for the power gain you get through them and less for the gas mileage. I think they realize that you're not getting prius mileage out of it. The tag-line i saw was something like six cylinder power with four cylinder gas mileage.

you mean they want to keep their luxury and pretend to care for the environment, join the latest hybrid trend, and satisfy their inner scrooge?

well the term hybrid in the lexus ls case is used to give the engine more power without consuming more gas. in that it does make sense to get the ls hybrid but imo why do you want so much power in a luxury car? is not like your gonna drag race it on the weekends or take it to the twisties or stuff like that..

and as far as the insight my dad has a 00 5 sp with 30k and he DOES get 66mpg i envy him so much first because he only puts gas on it like once a month or something like that and second you get more looks and stares and wows than in my tsx or my sisters s2k. when i drive it i feel like im driving an exotic because everyone in the road looks at you i tried so hard to get one at the beggining of the year but they were all gone
