I ask this question because I've never driven a 545 nor GS430 but often debate with family and friends on these cars. Even though I've read tons of info on all four and know about the same amount of info on each I've only driven the Acura's. Just curious.

ps. that is the current models of each.

I'm not so sure about that, at least for me. I've been part of the BMW drive for the cure for the past 6 years and have had chance to drive every one of their vehicles. I drove a 545i in May 04 for a 65 mile trip and found it really lacking. It was manual and I was expecting a lot more get up and go than it put out. Ounce for ounce, I'd take a 330 over the 545, and a hard top 6 series over both of those. Heck, with a spare 120K, i'd buy both (but still use my TL on my daily hour commute!)

Agreed. The 545 didn't impress me (along with i-Drive and all of the other *new* features).

. The 545 is so incredible. Man what a car to drive in auto or manual. This is easy, a 545.

Can people be so biased that our Accord based FWD car is superior to a BMW 545, Lexus GS 430 and Acura SH-AWD RL? It did ask for fun factor, right?

No bias.... I loved the 330iA, but at $42,000? I'll save the extra $7k and buy a TL. Loved the V8 power in the GS, but it reminded me too much of the LS430....and the RL was a good drive, but it doesn't look like something a 20-somthing belongs in.

You guys who are voting for the TL are nuts. The TL is a really great car, but when the "Fun Factor or "Got-to-Have Factor" is the only part of the equation the BMW walks all over the Acura. Rear wheel drive and 325 horsepower. You guys are nuts.

Tom

But the 330 and the 6 series aren't included in this poll. And your daily driver lacks the "fun" you can have in the rear-wheel driven BMW plus 55 more ponies.

I didn't see price, reliability, customer service, etc as part of this poll. It's all about which car is the MOST fun to drive!

Thank you. Fun is V-8, high horsepower+RWD=droooooooooool...This is no contest.

This poll, as the young guys say is "ghey". Why the hell is TL Naigation part of the poll? Navigation does not make the TL any more fun or sporty, nor any of these other cars.

This is foolish.

I mean the poll includes cars that aren't even in the same class; and since price isn't a factor there's no reason to vote for any car on the list other than the BMW.

The TL is thrown in the toss because it is noticeably less in price than the rest of the pack. A person driving a TL could very well desire a 545 or GS430 over an RL or maybe even the TL they're driving, but could not afford it or just plainly think the TL offered more for the money. You would also find that most RL owners think different from TL owners but most TL owners may think on the same lines as 545 owners. That's why the same poll is on the RL site, to see how the responses vary. So you see when thought put into the question even though this is a TL/Acura site the point of comparing these similar in some aspects yet very dfferent in other aspects I think this is a fair poll of these 4 fine sedans.

PS. Hell I drive an 04TL but I desire an E55 Benz. That car gets much respect from me. I just can't afford it.

READ THE NAME OF THE POLL!!Which car has the highest fun factor and gotta have it factor?

Not what is the best buy, what is the best value? Its what is the highest fun factor and gotta have it?
Acura does not have any got to have it qualities. BMW does. That is why 525s sell.
Fun is V-8, RWD. 325hp and a 6 speed manual and active steering/roll bars. DROOOOOOOOOL

True for the fun. But not for the gotta have one of the best Navi's on the planet factor. Remember when looking at the gotta have factor you have include all the TOYS.

Young man, lets get back to reality. Most of us bought the TL for value. Period. I didn't have to have it. THe payments were great though. I would have loved the 545 but at first I could not justify paying 20k more for it but after my troubles, I see it now.
Gotta have it=Vette, BMW M cars, AMGs, things like that. Goodness, I tire of trying to explain to people what kind of car I drive. No one knows. I keep getting "Legend or Integra". No its neither, its a TL. An Acura. All I get is a blank stare.

It's not a "fair" poll at all. I highly doubt a potential buyer would cross shop any of these cars. The TL is rougly $15,000 less than the closest competitor; the Acura RL.

1) Acura RL. $49,000 price tag, brand new design, great interior, excellent navigation, inovative AWD system, 300hp V6

2) Acura TL $35,000, new design, "entry-level luxury" market, great interior and exterior, great navigation, 270hp V6, and FWD

3) Lexus GS430 $50-55,000 very dated design, smooth and powerful V8, RWD, excellent egornomics and interior appointments

4) BMW 545i $60-65,000 Brand new design, super-high tech interior (more-so than the RL) amazing powertrain, a real driver's car.

It would have been better to ask this question that are at least in the same price range.

The BMW is nearly twice the price of the Acura TL, yet since this poll is for the "fun factor" it is the clear winner regardless of price.

1,) I was merely replying to the statement!
2.) I guess you've never heard of a car called the Acura NSX. and the 525 is not only not a part of the poll but it is also SLOW as hell!!!!
3.) Now YOU are getting off the topic and turning it into a brand war rather than a car comparison!

Gotta have it: you are partially right but you can go a level futher than that. Enzo's, SLR's, Lambo's ect. What's the point. Stick to the poll.

I was just responded to the comment that this was a "fair" poll.

Take this for example, lets change the poll slightly for the sake of argument.

Lets say the 545i has the lowest price tag of the bunch.

Compare these cars:

1) 545i
2) 'Benz E55
3) BMW M5

Only the M5 and the E55 are in the same class. (Sorta like the GS430 and the 545i)

Not exactly a "fair" poll for "fun factor" when you include a car that is $20k+ more and offers things that a $35k or less car (Acura TL) simply can't include for it's price.

The visual appeal of a car will vary from person to person. But its hard to dispute the DRIVING experience you'll get from 325bhp and RWD when compared to:

1) Overweight, underpowered RL
2) 270 hp, FWD TL (which does very well against other cars IN ITS CLASS, doesn't a great job for what it was designed for)
3) Outdated, GS

ITs beyond fair. This poll is ridiculous. Anyone that has driven the 3 knows our TL is not that fun in comparison with the other 3. And it shouldn't. Its FWD. Hell the TL is not the funniest with cars in its class, like the 3, IS 300 or G35. So for this poll, the TL can't win. Only biased people with no clue would pick the TL to win.

This is just classic of some of the things many of us who don't post read around here. Its ridiculous.

That's the point i'm trying to make... the people who posted saying they'd take their TL over the other choices was due to the price or the navigation.

I want you '04 TL owners I'm not bashing the TL at all. It's an EXCELLENT car. I had the pleasure of having one for 4 days while I was waiting for Comptech to ship a part to my dealership for my car. The interior is amazing, the sound system is far beyond my CL-S, the engine is smooth, I could go on and on...

But it is out of its league when compared to these luxury autos.
