Found a Nice Supercharged NSX

Check out this NSX. It has some miles on it but looks like it was cared for and is supercharged.

I wouldn't buy that for $45K because of high miles and the fact that it's a 15 yr old car, but that's just me.

NSX's are timeless but the mileage would defer me from buying it, take away the one out front, now you got a deal!

I thought 45k was high as well. I am pretty sure you could talk them down especially on a cash deal. I think a good price for this car is about $29k. The miles just take so much value out of this car.

I had my eyes on this 2001 Mercedes S600 that sold for $36,000 before I could get to the dealership to check it out.

Do you think the owner of the car repainted it because of paint chips, possible fender bender, etc?

well if he did, he did a great job of stating it in his description with the phrase "no paintwork".

I'd have to see the paintwork in person before I could make a proper judgment.

Thats actually a good buy if it is as clean as he states.....the mods are not cheap so you would be making out.......there is nothing wrong with the cars age.....these cars are all hand built an the body is good for 30 years for track use...........and the miles arent that bad....as long as its been maintained properly........

What was wrong with it? A $120k Mercedes with 56k miles shouldn't lose 75% of its value in 5 years.

I never saw it in person but from the pics it looked mint. This dealership only sells quality stuff and will tell you if the carfax is bad. I guess those big benz's take a hit due to the cost of ownership and the new models that come out every 3-4 years.

no way in hell is that a good buy. I have buddies that buy cars like this all the time. they get older cars with high mileage because the design hasnt changed and next thing you know, boom they need a new motor or tranny. That car is in its teens and has high miles, its asking for some work, especially with that blower strapped to it.

You obviously don't know much about the NSX........as long as the car has been maintained properly the motors can last a very long time...even with FI..........
theres an nsx out there with over 300k miles running strong.........

You obviously don't know much about me. I know the NSX and I know if properly maintained it can last for a lot of miles. But let's be realistic, you are not going to hit 300k without some problems, out of a supercharged NSX. Anyone online that says they have 300k with a blower and no problems is a liar and you need to stop believing what you read on-line.

I'm trying to do you a favor. Think about it. The owner of that car can tell you it slept next to him in bed, and you either have to believe him or not. And you can properly maintain a car all you want, but Forced induction on a non-forced induction car will stress the motor out more than you can understand. Also, if you put a blower on you car, will you still baby it? That blower has slammed him and all his buddies, and some of their buddies into those seats plenty of times. And like i said before, no kind of maintenance will stop that kind of wear. The only real way to tell the condition of that motor is to pull the heads, do a compression test, check for leaks, throw it on a wide band and see how the A/F(see if it's running rich or lean and for how long), and much more. For a car of that age and with that mileage with a blower, you need to be careful, not blinded by it's beauty. Just be cautious, there are a lot of "clean cars" with dishonest owner, and I dont want to see a fellow board member get jerked.

It's going good. It's been cold lately in NY, too cold to do any real work. But teh weather is coming along. My brother and i are planning a week off together to work on it. We are just waiting for some more parts. We decided on a different cam which is going to require flycutting the pistons. The main setback is weather and parts, plus we are trying to figure out what we really want to accomplish with the motor. We want to build it right/build it once while it's out of the car. But we dont know if we want to go with FI or NA. We are actually driving out to PA to see another FD LS1 conversion. He's NA so it will give us an idea of what direction to go with the motor. We want the car to be balanced and not have too much power that we are going to destroy drivetrain components all the time. Plus, we are looking for a sreet driven track car, not a 1/4 mile killer, thats what my TA is for.
