That would piss me off more than the quoted 4-6 weeks thing.

I dont really get upset over delays but i do get upset when they start lying.

^That's exactly my point. Some here claim it's a legitamate reason. There is no excuse or reason for lying.

Sidenote: New wheels installed today. Time for pics!

Parts discontinued? They are full of shit. They're using standard forgings, and soft lips. You can order those from any supplier and have them overnighted. We manufacture forged wheels in-house. We do private label and one-offs, as well as retail designs. If we have the components, it takes no more than 2 weeks to design, perform stress analysis, cut, finish, assemble, and ship the wheels. If it's a design we already have, then 1 week is pretty much all it takes. These wheel companies taking 3+ weeks for a wheel are idiots. They either don't manufacture them in-house, or just take on too many orders. If I'm backed up, I tell a customer that it's gonna be x amount of time, not because that's how long it takes, but because we have other commitments. That Forgestar wheel is a cookie cutter design, and should have been completed in no more than 2 weeks. And 2 weeks includes the time for them to get components.

I still would have opted for the upgraded 3 piece wheels at the 2 piece cost...it's not like you taught them a lesson, even if they were in the wrong. Plus, obviously...you had your heart set on em.

That said...let's see the new ones!

Word for word from the rep at Forgestar in an email...

June 22nd - Sorry I was out of the office for a few days on a personal matter. I went over to our manufacturing facility today and the wheels were being assembled.

Either tomorrow or friday they should be ready to ship. I didnt take any pictures because they werent cleaned.

ONLY 2 DAYS LATER!

June 24th
Bad news I went over to our manufacturing and they were only able to assemble 2 and the manufacturer of the parts is no longer making them. My Production manager is trying to source 2 more parts for your wheels and he said he was going to let me know by monday.

I think this is a classic case of bad communication costing the supplier a client.

We all at some point or another either work in or with manufacturers. And what pisses most of us off is being lied to or lack of communication. I think OP had a right to be upset and them for not communicating the issues properly.

That said, I think they also did their part to satisfy you. We don't know if maybe all 4 wheels were being made and 2 got damaged and now the parts were not available. I think offering you the 3 piece wheels was a good compromise and in the end they refunded you the money.

Bottom line.....they get poor marks for communicating but an A for the outcome.

As a manufacturer, 3 pc wheels are more of a headache with sealing issues. Yes, you can change individual components when damaged, but half the time components get damaged due to low air pressure brought on by damaged seals.

^Let me ask a question...if they didn't have a certain part for my 2pc wheel, how could they have the parts for my 3pc wheel on the same rim?

They most likely have the centers already cut. 3pc components are just the outer lip in the dimensions needed and the inner barrel in the dimensions needed. They probably have outer/inner lips that equal the size of your 2pc barrel when assembled.

sry Im prob a r-tard for not reading the whole thread. In the OG post did you only get 50% of your money refunded, or all of it? If not all of it what happened to the other half?

Most wheel companies ask for 1/2 upfront and 1/2 when they ship so I only paid 1/2 and that is what they refunded me.
