do you REALLY think people are willing to spend 30-35K on a focus??

i mean yeah, people buy the 30K Lancer (Evo) and the 30K Impreza (STi), but will they choose the focus over these guys? if Ford wants to sell that car here in the states, they have tobe confident that it will sell like the Evo's and STi's do, or else its just a waste to bring it anywhere near here

If Ford brought that car to the US they'd have to discount them more than Pontiac does with their GTO's.

If the quality is there, and performance is there, I dont see why they would have a hard time selling them...I mean, yes, a small discount would have to be in order, Ford just has to prove that they can actually sell the car for what they are....

I wouldn't knock the Focus.. it's rated as one of the best cars in it's market, particularly the ZX4 ST model. Heck, I was considering one myself when I bought my '04 TL. When I posted some questions on this website forum about the TL and mentioned some of the cars I was considering, the auto-bigots here when nuts. You would have thought I pissed in their grits when I included the Focus in the same post as a possible alone with the TL.

If Ford does go with this car, I say great for them. I hope they do and I hope the beat the pants off of the competition, both on the tracks and at the dealerships.

Competition improves the breed and we benefit.

Well said.....

Whats in its direct competition? Evo, WRX? If people are willing to pay for performance (which sounds like it would be faster then a Subbie or a Mitsu) I dont think it would have a hard time selling....

A 350bhp, AWD Ford Focus would sell to the same group that buys the Evo and the WRX STi. Though $35k is probably a bit steep. Somewhere around $30k would be perfect.

I would NEVER spend $20k+ on a focus, no matter what engine it has

sounds like that focus would be a monster and stomp on evo's and sti's easily outpowering them. probably would run 4.4-4.6 0-60 and high 12's-low 13's in the 1/4. for 30k I would defintely buy that car over a sti or especially an evo!

I love what Ford has done with the new Mustang. Not too big on the interior, though.. too boy racer for me. But the outside looks super and the car has been improved. Good for them.

GM can't seem to get it through their heads what the public wants and will buy. Cadillac is the only division doing anything serious (yes, Chevy has a few contenders), but the serious Cadillacs are quite expensive for most.

God loves the horsepower wars.. you gotta believe this.

If they bring one over, they might as well bring the whole line, the Euro Focus is a much nicer car in general.
