Acura engineers gave the Type-S firmer shock settings, increased spring rates and added larger 17-inch wheels with P250/50R Michelin MXM4 tires

am I reading that right ?? 250/50r michelin?? i thought they would have the same 215/50/17 tires?

the article mentioned an integra type-s...huh?

and also mentioned that the tl-s gets "17-inch wheels with P250/50R Michelin MXM4"

don't we have 215s?

i'm still trying to figure out why no one mentions the cl...without knowing better, one would think that the tl-s was the first -s car, considering i haven't seen the cl mentioned in any tl-s previews/introductions (yet they can mention the nsx and integra).

that is what i thought also, i thought tl-s is basically a cls exact replica on tl... but maybe not, maybe there are some different here and there... come to think of it, yeah, honda engineers have to do some different since tl is a larger four door sedan, and ours is a 2 door coupe... so now i expect the wheel/suspension to be a bit different.

yeah, i bet the integra type-s is a typo... my roommate has the autoweek mag, and i had read the magazine, i am pretty sure it should've read "integra type-r"... isn't type-s a north-america exclusive model?

yeah, I'd have to agree with you there...and I'm also sure that 250 is a missprint for the tire size also...

i remember seeing another review...all it mentioned was the tl s-type (the s-type can do this, the s-type can do that, blah blah blah; i was beginning to think i was reading about jags) throughout the whole article. (but then again, it never mentioned the cl s-type OR type-s either).

Actually, the Integra Type S is not a typo. It is, in fact, coming out as one of three variants for the Integra. The base Integra is rated at 200hp whereas the type S will be rated at 215hp. I read this on some site somewhere, but I don't remember which one. As soon as I come across it again, I will post a link to it so you guys can see for yourself

I think the article was referring to past cars by Acura. There has never been an Integra Type S, only the Type R. The new 2002 RS-X is going to have a 160hp base model, a 200hp sport model and either a Type S or Type R model (depending upon what they decide to call it) with 215hp coming in 2003. At least that's the last I've read on that front.

Please don't anyone try to correct all the misinformation in this silly article. I like driving a car that most people don't know anything about. I especially like not having a car that has a high performance reputation.

May I suggest removing your 3.2 CL or 3.2 CL-S badges to further confuse the general public?

Articles like this one seem to follow the dumbbell party line about the CL-S established by CAR & DRIVER. The prevailing attitude seems to be summed up by the doltish last line:

"Somehow, by focusing so intensely on making the perfect car, Acura lost sight of making a great car."

Let's keep the CL-S exclusive to serious drivers possessing the intelligence to read a line like that and have their V-1 bullsh*t detectors go on full alert.

The article also mentions:
"fog lamps set wide apart"

Could it be getting REAL FOGS?

Well, I couldn't find the original site where I got the integra(oops, sorry I meant RS-X ) info but I did manage to find something similar where it's posted that "The March issue of Motor Trend reports that the RS-X will originally come in 2 trim levels: the 160 hp base & the 200 hp Type S, with the 215 hp Type R joining in 2003."

go to this site to check it out

My only question is how you can call the Type S engine a "decent engine". There is probably no better V6 out there and aside from the straight 6 in the M3 there aren't many better 6's PERIOD!!! And I don't think the true verdict is in yet on how well the M3 engine is going to hold up. Lots of problems on that front.

I don't like it in silver. I have seen it personally in LA auto show, the blue one looks much better.

I'll bet they meant 215 and not 250. Besides it's a silly ass article anyway. "Decent engine", "uninspired styling", missing "inspiration" .... WTF? Other than the usual suspects (BMW 3 series or maybe the Audi), what else comes close to the TL or CL Type S cars????
