First time to the drag strip!

Well, a few of you know I totaled my TL last year and moved to a WRX. I finally did something I've been wanting to do for a long time - run a car on a drag strip lol So a friend and I decided to go Saturday for the last Test and Tune of the season at Brainerd Drag Strip in Ringgold, GA (1/8 mile). The WRX is lightly modded and making 310whp, I did not air down and didn't do anything "special," I also had a passenger.. if that matters. My best pass (out of 4) was a 8.167, I might could've seen the high 7's if I had made another pass. Keep in mind I had no idea what I was doing lol but each pass was getting better. The video has all 4 passes and timesheets from each pass. It was a blast and I can't wait for next year, I'm shooting for the 6's by spring

Enjoy

Awesome vid!!!

What track is that? I'm moving to Nashville in a month or so, so I need to know the local tracks lol. Also what is your launching technique? Nice 60fts! (Just googled where you live, not even close to Nashville lol.)

Damn you AWD drivers. Go to the 1/4 miles tracks!

Looks fun man! Good luck with your build! 450awhp without going into the engine sounds hard though!

Update the thread as you put up more mods! Very interested!

Haha Nashville is about 2.5 hours away. The track is just outside of Chattanooga, Brainerd Drag Strip is the name. From what I hear it's an "okay" track. I'd definitely like to visit more. In the last pass I launched at about 4 grand. I always feather it out as oppose to dumping the clutch, a big no-no. I spun a little so next time I will air down and launch a little higher, maybe 4500.

I had never tried to launch the car before going to the track so I was very worried when I pulled up to the line. But, as soon as the stage lights hit it was like I knew exactly what to do.

LMAO that's what a friend said who drives a modded Mach 1 Mustang. I slaughtered his time by over a second. It's gonna be tough getting 450 out if it without any upgraded internals but it's my goal. I'll keep the thread going

As a former owner of a subaru myself and i help work on my neighbors all the time, you honestly won't get 450 whp without some type of engine mods you will need pistons eventually don't get me wrong you can do it, it just won't be reliable, i would go with upgraded turbo's and intercooler piping as well as a nice downpipe, but as for 450, you will need to build that engine or it won't last long.

Some nice turbo's flowing a nice cfm and you wont even need to up the boost.

I plan to finish bolt ons which should hopefully put me around 400 at the wheels. It's not on an aggressive tune now but as soon as the motor goes, it's hammer time I considered tearing it down now and do a full build as oppose to forged pistons only to get me to 450whp but I don't have 10k for a longblock lol . I'm already running a VF34 and plan to leave it until I do a full build then I'm sure I'll end up doing a rotated setup.

As promised, the mod list:
Cobb Access Port
VF34 Turbo

STI Intercooler
Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
Helix Downpipe with High-Flow Cat
HKS Carbon Ti Catback
K&N Drop-In Air Filter

The car was tuned in ATL at Top Speed making 310whp and 355wtq.

My goal is to basically finish every bolt on possible.. lol, run it on a conservative tune while I save up for a built longblock, and shoot for the mooooooon! haha
