First Gen CTS - Just an observation...

The past few days, I've been lucky enough to drive my mom's '04 CTS as she took my car with her to go visit my sister. One thing that I've noticed about it is that it turns on a dime! I feel like if I was at a stop, I could make a U-turn into the next lane. It's crazy, but I like it. I wouldn't trade it for the more positive road feel of the TSX though.

I wasn't sure how many others have driven a CTS before and made an similar observation.

Just thought I would share my experience.

Our family had a CTS loaner once. I didnt drive it but the car itself wasnt that good. The interior was basically falling apart and it only had 17k on it. Of course it was a loaner car which means it was probably abused.

I remember the older M-Bs had hydraulic steering systems and they could turn in very tight spaces. I remember driving the older E class...ah the good ol' days.

RWD = typically better turning radius

the old CTS was about as small as a Civic sedan, now the new CTS looks long enough to be an Accord

The 1st gen was larger than a civic sedan. It had far more interior room than the 2nd gen TL. And the new one (2nd gen) is the size of a 5 series

really? to me, the 1st gen CTS looked small, like about the size of the 1st gen TSX.

My woman went from an 03 CTS to an 06 Maxima. Try turning that damn Maxima and you needed 6 lanes.

I remember test driving a 1st gen CTS and while the drive was sporty, the interior(center console area specifically) looked like something straight out of a cavalier. Models equipped with the Navi helped a little bit but it was still lacking i my opinion. Needless to say the new one is a milestone ahead in terms of design and I love it.

My CTSV has more interior room than my Cayenne - believe it, or not. The interior was never a good selling point with the first gen CTS. The '08+ are, dare I say it, about as good as Audi. Yep, I said it.

RWD cars always turn much better than FWD cars since the 'junk' doesn't get in the way. My ol' CLS was a 3-point turn car in any parking lot. The CTSV just turns in very tight circles.
