Is it me, or should Chevy have kept the flip up lights for the Vette?

No, I completly agree with you. The new C6 doesn't seem to stand out as much as the C5 does. I like the exterior of the C5 better. However, the interior of the C6 is WAY better, just smaller than the C5 .

Then again, I could be biased

 

I like flip-up headlights too, although I think the new design looks 40x more exotic than the old one. Mainly because, well it has cues from the 360 Modena.

What made them do that? Styling or the HID system?

 

Probably a little of both... AND the popup lights are so 70's/80's...

 

Also, for aerodynamics. The top speed for the base Vette increased from 179mph to 186, and lowered the drag coefficient.

 

I love the Z06


i'm still iffy on the C6 though, it's definately not as sexy as the C5. The squared the car up to much. From the lights back to the windshield it's very viperish. I think the rear is hideous

I personally like the C6 much better than the C5 myself. The C5 is way too bolbous in the back. The C6 looks much tighter.

Looks like a cross between a Trans Am and a NSX. Many Vette fanatics hate the recent 'Japanezed' vettes. I like the Sting Ray and early ones. I guess I just don't get the attraction since then.

I guess I'm more of a sleeper guy. the new ones are better than the 70's-80's 'monsters' I'll give you that. How bout some finesse, I don't need to put it in your face with a Vette.

 

if you want 'finesse', look at one of the German mega-hp monsters. the Vette was never known or associated with 'finesse'... you're looking in the wrong place. kthx

C6 >> C5, maybe because it looks like a Ferrari? At least it's on its way to becoming a bit more exotic. I definately love the headlights.

Here's an interesting fact. In the past 20 something years, when a "new" corvette was introduced, prices were firmly set at at least MSRP for years after the introduction of the car. The C6, which was introduced not even a year ago, is already selling for below sticker. Interesting when you think about it.
