Favorite Drives

Looking to see some of the best or scenic places you have driven your car.

My short list:
US 1 North of San Francisco. (Stunningly beautiful)
Door County, WI. (Doesn't look like the rest of the state)
Northern Greece below. The switchbacks-Drove that one in my cousins fiat. Whoa cool! His car was 2-3 inches off the ground. Hugged the corners like no other car I have ever driven.

- White Mountains NH
- Blue Ridge Parkway
- Boise ID to McCall ID
- Almost anywhere in Turkey, I rented a Honda Jazz while there, was fun on the new highways they've built there.
- Ring Road in Iceland, lots of waterfalls, ice caves, geothermal spots

I go out with 1.3 gallons of gas, so I can pretend it's an electric car.

Devil's Backbone, TX. Hills, cliffs, curves, fun.

Hwy 21 in Bastrop, TX before the 2011 fires. The pines here were unlike any other place in central Texas.

Then, there was this.

The Canada Parks freeway between Banff National Park and Jasper National Park...breath-taking.

For something more adventurous, the roads up some of the mountains are fabulous...tons of twisties...

BMW has an app (UltimateDrive) that gives you fun routes from all over. I am sure other car manufactures have similar ones as well.

A couple of drives come to mind. (1) In Colorado, US-550 between Durango and Ouray. It is called the Million Dollar highway because of the views but that is probably under estimating ts value! (2) In Nevada & California, US-395 between Susanville, CA and Ridgecrest, CA. It is especially nice in the southern part as you drive along east of the California Alps (Sierra Nevada).

Anytime I am driving home from a business trip.

Other than the drive from Corolla NC to Carova Beach NC. Nothing like taking the truck out on the sand for a drive.
