hehe...I know that car. I've ridden in it. I knew the original owner of it. In that video it is weighing in at about 3200 lbs. The original guy was running about a 12.3@113-115 at the true weight. This car has a bit of work done to it. He has water injection and custom software.

not very...chipping will result in voiding your warranty unless your dealership doens't care. You are young and unless you have money to blow or your parents are going to pay for shit stay with something relieable.

first of all, with the s4 (and i think the a4, but i think you meant to say s4) chip from apr, you can turn the chip on or off (i.e. stock or racing mode) through the cruise control button, so your not on extra boost mode all the time
also, apparently they cant detect chips through their software any more

heres the low down with chips + S4
chipping the A4 is very different from chipping an S4 in terms of reliability.
You rarely ever see ANYONE blowing anything with a chip on the a4! Literally, out of thousands of members on audiworld, i remembre 2 stories, one of them was shady, the other was legit and in BOTH scenarios, the posters stopped posting about what happened with dealer....so you can kinda figure out what happened, and why the posters wouldnt wanna post sensitive info about a dealer that would cover blown turbos from chips.
NOW WITH THE S4, if your gonna chip, you have to be responsible! Chips on S4's are not dummy-proof, and damage can be done! On Avg, 1/8 of all S4 owners will blow their turbos due to a chip! With owning a chipped S4, the smart move is to be financiall able to get new turbos, at any given time....or you gotta have your dealer on lock down. Most people, have their dealers on lock down, and everything is cool, but there are several horror stories on the S4 boards.
The good news is, if you ever DO blow your turbos, you can upgrade to KO4 turbos used in the Euro Spec RS4 to get a good 450-550hp! 450 being STOCK RS4 programming used in the Audi RS4..and 550 being equivilant to a chipped RS4 engine.
Its a road that can be expensive if you are not responsible, or just happen to not have luck on your side.
Would I chip a S4 if I owned one?
HELL YES, some chips can get you about 340hp TONS of Torque under $900
i would do this because:
- i have a good relationship with my dealer
- worst case scenario, i do a mod (rs4 turbos) that i would be planning to do eventually anyways.

RS4 turbo kit i think you could frind from 3.5k-7k with all the other stuff you need.
are your parents saying you cant get a m3 because of the speed/performance?
or is it because of the bmw badge/image?

RS4 turbos are about $2300 a pair...but for an entire kit with software, intercoolers, mass air sensor, fuel injectors, hoses etc, you are talking $7k or so. Install is a pain since you need to pull the entire S4 engine to get at the turbos. Count on 20+ hours of labor for a decent install.
And that S4 in the video has RS4 (K04) turbos, not T28's. There is only one car I know of with T28's. They don't fit in the stock locations with stock manifolds. There is a lot custom work involved in making the T28's fit. The T28 car was in the S4 shootout in european car mag, but the motor caught fire during the competition, so it was down on power. The guy ran an 11.8@ 120 or so at one point. He lives close to Englishtown.
