Fake M3's

I was in AC the other night and some girl had rebadged her 323/325/328 coupe as an M3 (2 pipes on the left side, no fender flares, a non //m blue color). This thing was complete with stick on chrome fender vents. Her and her guy friend were both sitting down really low in the thing 'gangsta style' and when they passed me in my 335i in the parking garage the guy in the passenger seat gave me this "you aint shit look" . By the time I had my camera phone out they were gone.

But this isn't the first time I've seen this. It's getting common. I wonder if these people really fool anybody?

Yup, I seen one before. 325 w/ m3 front bumper and m3 fenders. I was able to recognize it right way because no fender flairs, and no duo exhaust. I left him a nice note saying "stop trying to be m3, fake ass."

I thought there were actually "Motorsport" or "Sport" options (mostly suspension-related) on the 3- and 5- that would come with the "M" badge, but not the M3/M5 badge or engines & trans. IIRC, they were manual tranny versions and pretty few in number.

Yes, I think some people just buy the badges and stick them on too.

I know the e46 3 series had a package that gave wheels with the //M logo, a steering wheel with it, and //M branded shift knob. However, there were no big M logos on the back or sides of the car. It would still say 330i.

That would be the Performance Package 330i, and yes there was no M badge on the rear.

I've got m6 reps on my 335 but I left the 335 emblem on so people know that's not even an ///M that just smoked them but only a 335.

Can't stand them....

I was on my way to DC and I see what looks like an E46 M3 approaching me extremely fast, so I figured what the hell, and decided to gun it. Something wasn't right, because when I maxed out 3rd gear (110+/-) he was still a couple cars behind. We both took the same exit and when we were at the light I see 325i on the back He had the M3 bumper, fenders, etc..

you know, i can at least understand why someone would stick an M badge on a 3 or 5 series.

but it's when i hear stories about a prelude with an ES330 badge. or an accord with an M6 badge.

I'd love to see the Prelude with ES300 badges. You know, just to have a good laugh.

Who said it was ok when BMW owners do it?

Its just that Honda ricers are so widespread.... you see them EVERYWHERE. Once in a while you'll see someone with an M badge on their run-of-the-mill base 3-series or 5-series but they they rarely go out and deck their cars out with altezzas, fart cans, 747 wings, ugly ass body kits, neon color paint jobs, etc. etc. I can go on all day....

I think I have a fake M3 in the parking lot at work...I haven't gotten a close enough look at it to know for sure, but that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it.

The other day I saw a CTS-V (real CTS-V too)... AMG edition. Go figure...didn't have a camera. Don't get why you would do that to a nice car?

There's a guy in my area with a 3000GT. Last i heard, Honda has VTec, not Mitsu. Tell me why he has a huge Vtec decal on the back window and Vtec emblems on the sides AND to top it off DOHC VTEC decals like the Civic SI used to have.

ZHPs weren't they?

The only time I've ever seen a M-branded model (not to be confused with a M-series) like a M535i or M635i was WAAAAY back in the day. They stopped doing that here a long time ago AFAIK.

Maybe he swapped in a B, H or K series engine?

Look, if you want to go looking for an argument. Fine. I'm sure there's no shortage of people here willing to oblige you ... Including me.

But when you come storming into a thread and say something like that it just makes you look desperate ... And that's just sad.

my bad, i'll retract my statement. i meant some people do it and it seems more... acceptable and less "ricey" compared to a civic doing the same thing.... its just an observation no way did i want to offend anyone. i love bmw... i help my friend mod his all the time =D

back on topic... a daewoo at my school has a wrx slapped on the trunk...

A math teacher in high school (older Asian guy) drove up in a fake WRX one day. I asked him about it, and he said it was his son's.
