I personally love the look of the 2G TL, but I wish that it had 4WD and at least 75 more hp (I have a TL-P). But the point of this thread was never to make it into a typical BMW vs. Acura thread.

I still have my 2003 CL Type-S 6spd, then I added M roadster and 330i to my collection.

the M roadster I bought in 2006 is actually a gift to my wife, but we share everything and in an Asian family whatever belongs to the husband also belongs to the wife or vice versa. the new 330i is actually a family car.

To each his own, but I've met a lot more douche BMW owners than Acura owners. I hear a lot more people bragging that they own a BMW, even if it the most base model you can buy-somehow the BMW badge makes you cool or something. I've really never met anyone thats bashed Acura-one kid started on me for buying another 4 banger, and I chucked him the keys of the TSX and he was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was to drive. I wonder what the BMW guys would say to the riced out BMW I saw the other day-straight from Fast and the Furious.

I like BMW's, it's just that a lot of BMW drivers drive like jerks and morons who think they own the king of the road.

i went to a bimmer meet. e46... and many of them were posers... wearing their aviators with their hat tilted like they the shit....

the only cool regular guy who was a big time vendor. he drove an s2k =P

anyways, seems that the bimmer drivers have more retards... but some aren't, don't stereotype.

anyways, nice TL's, the position of camera, lighting, and the floor color made those TL's look like boats when beside the e90. why? the e90 is a very dark color vs the two light-colored TL's. lighting, camera, surroundings really make a difference on the perception of the cars. could be a reason why most car commercials are retouched.

You proved my point, the members in the TL section cant take a joke. Thats why when i had a TL i was over in the CL section.

Cant afford an audi? Please... my A4 was the base model and most TLs cost more than them.

For the record, I never said the TL was a bad or an ugly car.

Not all BMW owner are a$$.

BMW is simply more fun to drive. Since making the switch in 01, i have nothing but good thing to say about BMW.

Does it have problems- certainly. But a lot of issues and perception is really blown out of proportion. Electronics is BMW's weakness. But mechanically they are great.

I know this is an acura forum. But i still have to say this. I really think Honda/Acura's quality is way over exaggerated based on my 4 previous honda/acura.

My last acura (00 TL) was simply a disaster. Rattles, lousy brakes, transmission issue was a huge dissappointment. It was simply not well made or designed. It offers a lot of value (fully loaded with DVD navi and HID). But gone through 3 set of warped brake really dissappointing.

I have a 2G TL-S and don't give a damn what anyone thinks if its negative. I've received a lot of positive comments about my car, and I don't even drive it much. Not only that, its stock aside from tints.

I would rather have a 6MT CL-S but I'd rather not have a Z4 or M Roadster. Not a personal attack or anything but the styling is just not attractive to me at all, its an eye-catching design, yes, but eye-catching in the same respect that a Pontiac Aztec is. Must be a hoot to drive especially in M guise but to me its like a TT or Beetle RSi.... would not be seen in any of the above unless I had 5% tints all around (including windshield). Though in the end I prefer a B5 or B6 S4 over all of them.

As for the E90s, would love an M3 when it comes out pending engine problems, and I think the 4-doors are awkward looking, they grew on me since the start but it still looks strange. I wouldn't go as far to say its ugly, but its not my style at all. The E92 is nice though, but all the problems with the N54 turn the 335i coupe from a realistic dream car to a plague to avoid. I really like the way the E92 looks but the E91 has been afflicted with the Bangle-butt. Non-M E46s look bland now, I also found it peculiar how they have matte black body moldings on their "sport" models. I never understood that about BMW. An Integra RS has cheap black plastic body moldings, and the ITR has none at all, looks more cleaner and sportier IMO. Not nitpicking here, just an observation I made.

Anyway, the funniest crap I've heard in a while was when I was at school (I go to a community college btw) these two guys were sitting in a E91, and I glanced over for two seconds at the car; it was eye-catching, yes... nicely detailed, had some DPEs on it, but the carbon fiber headlights and black eye-lids were ricey. Here's the kicker though: the passenger stuck his head out of the window and said "Yeah, I know it looks like a Ferrari but its not!" I just smiled as I continued walking. On another day I saw the E91 driver flooring it in our school parking garage, hitting at least 35 MPH (in a parking garage mind you) then slamming on the brakes at the mini-intersection, then flooring it up to the next floor, tires screeching as he makes the turn when he reaches the top. I won't comment on what I think about these two...

To the exclusion of earlier S54 motors huh!?!

Everytime I have driven a BMW, I have loved the driving experience. IMHO and out of all the cars I have driven, the BMW experience is second to none. However, the typical BMW pricetag (coupled with smallish interiors and questionable quality) marginalizes my desire to ever purchase one.

Take the higher road guys. That forum is generally ok, but the average age (I would guess) is much, much lower than here. Especially recently it's been pretty mind-numbingly stupid. Let them talk their shit. Who cares?

FWIW, I have more fun at Acura meets than BMW meets. Take that e90post. :/

Most BMW owners are normal, but most of the time you'll find the idiots since the normal ones usually stay quiet. They're just like car problems...you may go to a forum that has 5 owners whose transmission broke down, but you'll never hear about the thousands who never had a problem. Fact is, noone will wake up, drive to work and after getting there log into the forum and say "WOW, my transmissions is working today!"

If you want proof, go to the "kill" section in bimmerforums. You'll find 17 year olds with 318s thinking they have the best car in the world.

Check this out some people on there actually know what they're talking about

Just for the record, I never said ALL BMW drivers. I said SOME BMW drivers. I have nothing against BMWs as cars, in fact I think they are really good cars. Hell, I compliment my friend almost everytime I see his car because it's hot (which is almost every day or every other day). That's why this was never a BMW vs. Acura thread.

For all of you who have moved onto BMWs from your Acuras, I hope you didn't have to trade in your class to get it...
nope, no class traded.

Actually, I think that's a mischaracterization of what Mr. 318i said. He said he thought TL's were faster than that, and he must've gotten a jump on the punk, that's all.

I just thought I might chime in here a bit seeing as how everybody else is too..... I have often noted that people who drive less expensive cars such as the Acura are often very quick to point out how much of a bargain the car was when compared to a BMW......... after all the Acura has this or that feature standard whereas it is optional and usually pricey on the BMW. Trick is ofcourse the BMW is a BMW ........ the Acura is however no matter how many features it has standard still an Acura. And regardless which car is better (spare me the hoopla about reliability I used to fix Acuras .........one word TRANSMISSION) the BMW is irrespective of whatever problems they may have still higher on the automotive food chain than the Acura. That probably pisses a few of you off but that is just the way it is. Don't get me wrong Acura builds a nice car but let's face it .......... it just ain't ever gonna be a BMW now is it? nor is it likely that anytime soon the two will switch places. So if some rubberhead from the www.bmwismadebygod.com thinks his three series is just the shit .............. what the fuck do you care?????? The guys over at www.goddrivesabentley.com are laughing their asses off at every wanna be in a BMW because they know damn well their cars are just about the pinnacle of automotive excess.
So bottom line...................chill out enjoy your car and screw what the other people think !!!!!

Jens (who drives a butt ugly Alfa and is about to buy another one!!!)

Bleib sauber Alter, schön mal was hier in Deutsch zu lesen.

Oh and sorry to the rest of the readers about the German LOL :-P
