yup! my parents have a land rover discovery and while I HATE driving it on the streets that thing is a beast off road! When I was younger we went on some off road trips where a bunch of land rovers meet up and ride a bunch of off road trails outside of Deland, Fl. I definitely remember watching a rover go up 70 degree hill and then being in the backseat as we followed after it. Shit was nuts!

In the video you can see that the suspension is raised. In the land rovers you can raise or lower the suspension automatically. Also there's a hill descent control feature that automatically slows the car using the abs brakes.

Our old disco doesn't have these features

@ justin's usher vid!

But, any SUV with a low(er) gear ratio can pull that shitake off! I've done very similar to that in a 2 door Z71 Tahoe.. with minor drivetrain modification

It really is amazing, though.

Wow.

I have to say, I started to get a little nervous when the rear wheels were slipping a little.

Ive done plenty of Rover Excursions like that in the past. Up in the hills north of Rocklin, CA. The dealership Nielo takes Rovers out & shows them a day of fun OFF RODING & provides FREE amenities like a catered picnic lunch & free carwashes afterwards.... Thats where I got the idea for ACURAFEST. The Rover comunity is great... plus those freaking things are Mountain Goats!!!. They may look all deceiving... soft & luxurious, But Rovers are the BEST OFF THE LOT off road vehicle you can buy.

Speaking of which.... I got some of my own Rover Vids like that..... Had my 7 year old son, wife, sister, & newborn baby in the Discovery at the time... kinda scary at first... until you see 70 year old grandmas doing the same thing in their Rovers, LOL

haha this is cool, we did stuff like this all day long, its the only the tires that limits this rover. WIth some BFG All Terrains, it would have been cake.

[SSFTSX]Of course. Land Rover wishes they could be as good as Honda. TSX has lighter cylinders and aerodynamic lugnuts. Shifter is more logical, too.[/SSFTSX]

Seriously, though. I toured the Land Rover plant when I went to England in 2007 and on the off-road course, we went up a hill and at the top, there was a sign that said '70% Grade'. I thought That can't be too bad. WRONG! I screamed like a little girl when the ground vanished and the car started to drop.

Yea, I think I would be pretty scared going up or down a 70% grade

Now, THAT'S how you use RR.

I was hoping one of the air suspension to go out as always.

This is the most terrifying video I've ever seen.

Not so much on the way down, but about the last 30 seconds. Its gotta be nearly straight down.

Start at 3:00.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UBnRFNMSvd8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UBnRFNMSvd8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Air suspension going out is a major issue when off roading Land Rovers.
