Exhaust question....

Just have a quick question about the material exhaust systems are made of. What is the difference between aluminized and stainless steel? I live in NY, so I need to know which would be better for here. This would be a complete cat-back system, but they offer those 2 kinds.

thanks

Do they salt the roads in NY?
I am assuming they do, in which case, I'd go with SS. I believe it's less corrosive...

^ correct

"aluminized" is a coating on mild steel tubing and is not nearly as corrosion resistant as a full stainless steel exhaust. Driving on the roads of PA for over 6 years, all seasons including Winter salt, my stainless steel catback is still in perfect condition ...even internally since I had it off a couple months ago doing other mods and no sign of corrosion inside or out.

Full titanium or combo stainless/titanium is also good since titanium is even more corrosion resistant than stainless, plus titanium is very light ...about the lightest exhaust available now is full titanium.

Yeah, NY is a mess in the winter, I just didn't know what the aluminized was, never seen that before. So SS would be the way to go then.

Having lived in NY and dealing with salt I can agree with everyone's comments. Go with the SS.
