Excellent Service Experience
*Cliffnotes in bold.
I am one of those people who is not easily impressed, but today I was so here I am writing about it.
After experiencing service from Honda, Acura and Infiniti dealerships over the years I have seen a progression of "better" so far as service is concerned, but nothing impressive....until now.
My wife and I took the X3 in to finish up the paperwork on the maintenance agreement and oddly enough the TPMS light came on before I took off to the dealership. I informed our salesman about the light and he told us to just take it over to have someone take a look at it. Once I started the car the light was no longer illuminated, but I though since we were here why not...
As I drove up to the service drive I was waved in by a smiling attendent into a very clean, wide and well lit service drive. I told him about the TPMS and he said no problem I'll get someone to check the tires for nails and check the pressures as well. He then escorted us to the customer's lounge and opened two doors for us on the way.
Once in the lounge my wife and I were looking around like the couple of newbs that we are, thumbing through the BMW paraphernalia for sale while our daughter found her way to the big screen. As my wife and I were walking around checking out the area...what's this? A coffee bar with two baristas waiting to make what you want...for free. We didn't partake, but I did grab a couple of Jolly Ranchers that were in little containers scattered throughout. And then, what's this?! A home-style movie theatre with plush leather seats. I called our daughter over to indulge. She did while my wife and I grabbed a couple of bar chairs to chat while waiting. There was also the usual pastry dish there and wifi and a business center area that I did not go over to.
Here comes our guy, and he tells us that everything checked out good and our car was waiting. He walked us all the way to our car, opening the two doors on exit and opened the door for my wife to re-enter the vehicle. Wow.
I guess it is true what they say about BMW service. At least our first impression is a good one.

Yea, I've never had that experience from the Acura/Honda dealerships I've been too. There's usually a tv in the lounge, magazines and a coffee machine, which is also free. But there's no greeting and only interactions with people from the service counter.

Depends on the dealer. I have heard some crappy stories of some BMW dealers here in IL.
The one i go to has a great reputation and treats their customers really well. Then again so does the Acura dealership i go to as well. They just dont have a fancy service area.
Theres one Infiniti dealer in IL that has a cook and all the zazzle dazzle. Then again i guess they could have a cook but still have crappy service. No clue.
So uh yea. Depends which dealer it is and not so much of the brand.

I hear bad things about other "only one in town" dealerships.

and all the little accessories at ripoff prices for you look at. Though the service counter clerk was easy on the eyes.

Both of the two BMW dealerships local to me are absolutely amazing. Every single time I (a 19 year old male) walk through the door they always ask me if there's anything they can help me with, and they're always happy to walk me to where it is I'm trying to go. Truly outstanding service if you ask me.
