Ever use GAP insurance?

We are getting our new car tonight, and since we did not put a lot down, shoudl we wreck the car between now and the next two years, we will owe more than it is worth. So I am thinking of adding GAP insurance to my auto policy. This way the difference is covered.

Anyone ever have to use it? Is it straight foward? or do you still have to fight with the insurance co in the event of a loss..

Depending on who you financed/leased with, it may already be included.

I just leased an m45 and the gap insurance is included in the lease.

If you can't/don't want to pay for the car in the case it's totalled you should get the gap insurance.

I know some lowlifes that want a new car so badly, they take a mad-interest loan out on an entry level hyundai, get it totalled (even if it wasn't their fault). The other insurance company will only pay the value of the car, so they ended up owing about $10,000 to their financing company because their interest rate was so high, and they don't even have the car anymore.

I see you're in nazareth. I just spent my first night at our new house behind the speedway in lower nazareth.

Most lease companines require it..

I think my car insurance co wants like 5 bucks a month. I dont plan (knock on wood) to total the car anytime soon..... Just nice to know its there, since we will be neg for a while and starting out with our new house too....

Mrdeeno, were you from the area before moving to Nazareth? That is a nice area, just hold onto your pants.... There is alot of building that is going to be going on on the former raceway property. You know they want to put in a dor or horse track on the other side of RT 191, and some sort of shopping area / hotel / condo resort on the raceway property..

Best of luck with the M45. wish my pockets would allow for that class of car. Came within inches of getting a new A4, but I decided to go cheeper and save up for the S4 over the next few years.

i'm originally from Bethlehem, moved my address to Allentown (office address) while I was travelling for the past 5 years for work. Just took an office position so I can now have a life.

The house was just built (click on the link in my last post for pics), and it's pretty far from the speedway but I can see it and the cement plant from the house.

I was living in Northampton before (when i was between assignments) which was nice up on the mountains, but a little too far from town for my tastes.

Well, since my 03 CL, I have had an 04 Xterra, and 05 GMC Sierra, an 05 Mazda Tribute.... and Now.....

Well, I found my used pick-up that I had been needing for sometime now. We got rid of the 05 Tribute and the wifes 03 Protege and we got an 06 Mazda6. Hard to turn down the Mazda when I get employee pricing since my Dad works for them.

I LOVED the A4, as did she, but the payments would have been about what my mortgage is. So we are going to give it 3 years and step up to a real car....

I am just soooooooooooooooooooo glad to see the Purple tribute go bye bye....

If your car is out of equity I would get the gap insurance but I have never had to actually file a claim on it.
