I may have no other choice other than to wait... i wanted to go ahead placing a deposit on the chevy bolt and now the dealership is not getting back to me. This is happening every time the sale manager has to get involved. This is the chevy dealership in Princeton.

Well I am against any goverment incentives that are on the backs of tax payers who do not choose to benefit from the program.

The "fuel" savings should be enough to warrant the purchase of an EV.

The govt has propped up many industries with incentives and subsidies. EVs are just a drop in the bucket in comparison.

Yup. Without the government there wouldn't be any US car companies.

I suspect that most suppliers have similar programs.

Not here. We're on our own for everything.

I'm done chasing the Chevy bolt or Nissan leaf. Those dealerships want to you come in and talk even if they don't have a vehicle on the lot. They won't give you the price / fee over the phone. Screw them!

I went online and I reserved a 2023 VW ID4 Pro. I had to choose a local dealership though and fortunately they don't charge mark up and has low doc fees and no additional BS add-on items. I had to make one trip to sign the pre-order sales write up for the NJ rebate. No ETA on the car though.

I hope you contact the Chevy and nissan dealers and tell them why you bailed on them.

Are you going to contact PSEG for the incentive for the EV hook up? Does PSEG have a list of approved electricians to do the installation?

I contacted A-1 electricians for a quote on getting a 240V line into the garage. I’ll be getting other quotes as well.
They said there is no NJ incentive for installing the 240v line. But for the EV charger unit there is a NJ rebate for that. I have to get the details.

There is (or used to be at least) a federal rebate of 30% of the cost to install the charger in your garage. Make sure you look in to that, not sure if it changed with the new bill that just passed.

Just an update... I'm still waiting on my 2023 ID4 Pro RWD. It's still waiting for production.
Apparently they (Volkswagen) is prioritizing the AWD Pro S - profit margin is greater.
The one I ordered is RWD Pro so it's in the low priority queue.

What's the cost difference for the AWD one? Might be worthwhile to do it for the resale value.

The AWD Pro version cost about 3500$ more. The would be slightly less because of two motors and the added power.
The AWD Pro S version is about 8K more. Apparently this has the highest priority.

I'm thinking if this doesn't happen by Feb 2023 I may place a deposit for RAV 4 Prime. I got calls from dealerships in the last few weeks and they seems to have availability.

Not sure on the EV side, but it definitely seems like the dealers I pass on my commute are slowly increasing available stock.
Maybe we're slowly returning to almost normalcy
With end-of-year approaching, the more stock they have, the better.

You'd probably get a good chunk of that $3500 back in resale value over a RWD model. Might be worth considering since AWD is a lot more desirable than RWD.

It's too late to switch to AWD. My reservation is locked.

I contacted a few local Toyota dealerships and they seem to have availability of the BZ4X which is an EV. I was under the impression that in NJ you don't pay sale tax on a full EV. The Toyota dealerships are telling me something different. And they seems not to have heard about the NJ EV discounts as well.

The BZ4X is pricey with less range but it's there.

IMO, the Toyota/Subaru EV is a half assed attempt at something and isn't worth the money...which is why they have availability lol.
