engine blown need some help

I was driving on the highway today its raning very hard, and the road its got flood it between the little hill, i have no choice i have to drive through it because all other car is driving through it too, the water is properly up to half of the rims are, and on my half way through the hill my engine just stop, and i try to start it but won't work and then i smell something is burning, i know is bad, then i remember my aftermarket intake is at the bottom, i'm sure thats where the proplems are. So my question is will the insurance pay for it, or how can i get around it and make the insurance pay for it?

Don't worry, insurance covers stupidity. I was a former insurance adjuster. I had people filing a claim for wheels falling off due to improperly tightening their lugs and brake failure due to the person's brother doing the brake job to save some cash.

Sounds like you hydrolocked your engine. You need to add a bypass valve to prevent this in the future.

^ Yes, and it doesn't sound like a "blown engine." You definitely would know if you blew your engine. It happens ALL the time to the 350Z FI guys. LOL. Go through insurance, I wonder if they would give you an grief because of the aftermarket intake.

You didn't necessarily destroy your engine. How fast were you revving when you sucked up the water?

It's probably hydro-locked. Did any water get into the car? Are all of the electronics still working?

Also, please learn to type english-it will make it easier for all of us to read.

Check your Engine Parts!

Well if I were you, since you drenched your car in flood, I will have to check some of the components under the hood. C'mon its water dude... If you find anything wrong, look here for replacements --> http://www.teamacuparts.com/acuraengineparts.html

If you sucked up a decent amount of water you're hosed. Especially if you keep trying to start it after it's been water logged.

To see if it will start pull *all* of the spark plugs out and turn the engine over a few times (10 at least). Then let it sit and air out for an hour or two. Replace all of the spark plugs and see if it will start.

The problem is water doesn't compress like air does and when the piston attempts to compress the water like it would the fuel/air mixture it over stresses the rods and bends them as the piston cannot continue to move upwards anymore due to the water in the cyl.

Good luck!
